@Razec

It's no assumption or trying to put words in your mouth at all you were quite happy to proclaim

"they may not the the best in sound quality but they are the best in general music experience"

So just what was i supposed to make of this statement that clearly says they may not have the best sound quality as that is pretty clearly backing up what i said. All i have said is that i will take Music Performance over all other factors as when listening to Music that is obviously the most important thing for most of us.

I never mentioed SE phones as such or the shake thingy but i will say i still would not take the shake facillity or anyy other UI experience as a prefrence over better sound qaulity but obviously you are free to do as you plaese. But please don't start accuseing me of saying things i haven't at this point. Although you are right i don't happen to think that Walkman phones are great Music Players but that's from listening to them not just because they have a SE badge.

Again that may be your findings and opinion but it most cetainly isn't mine Jah's or various other people that use varying types of good headphones and well encoded music. We are all more than happy with the quality and results we get useing our devices and so we will have to agree to disagree on this, as very simply your findings and ours are not the same.

I have had the experience of the W800i and the W950i and while i may not be an audiophile, i can't say anything bad about their sound output.

With both i have used the same headphones that came with them; however, i also use high quality mp3 tracks on them, all of them above 192kbps, mostly around 320 v0. Both phones sound great with my MP3's, i don't need the sound on the highest setting, and i don't change the EQ or anything like that.

i think alot of you are trash talking the phones, and the review, in my opinion, is completely wrong when talking about sound quality.

that is indeed your opinion and no one can change that but I'm tempted to go with what Hi-Fi I'm afraid...

The fact is though, no matter how well thought of the reviewer is, it's only an opinion, it's also an opinion thats not worth anything.

I love the sound of my mobile, i love the sound of my Creatine Zen Xtra, i love the sound of my B&W DM602 and Marantz PM4001, I can tell the difference between my B&W's and my g/fs Sony SRS-P3 speakers.

However what i hear when listening to my B&W might not be the same as what someone else hears. So taking a review in a magazine of sound quality that you have no control over is in my opinion one of the silliest things. If you actually visit an audiophile website (i suggest avforums.com) you'll find they say, "don't look at the reviews, go hear them for yourself".

I can't fault the walkman phones that i use everyday, i walk with it, i cycle with them, and when i want to listen to music in my bedroom, of course it's not gonna be any good (though i do enjoy blasting a song out on my w950i every so often) compared to my B&Ws so i switch them on and turn it upto 11.

If you believe everything a reviewer says about sound quality... well i have a peice of white rock not a million miles away from here to sell you.

If anyone wants to see the short reviews of them phones go to www.whathifi.com or go buy the mag. They even said that the software was poor for transfering music. I did not intend this to spell into rowing again i thought i would mention the reviews as i thought it may have been of interest from such big people as What Hi Fi. I mean a while ago they also gave the N91 five stars. I personally dont like Walkman phones but i was suprised when i seen it as so many people seem to swear by them. I always buy What Hi Fi and they regularly review mp3 players and i have always bought what they recommended and they have been right when i heard it.

@ jaredce...

what hi fi is indeed only a review and one persons perspective on what they think, however.. they have tested more hi fi equipment that pretty much anyone.. and yes while I fully agree to hear a set up is 10x better than one persons review it's not always possible..

also a side note.. avforums.com is more concerned with AV and home cinema, a true audiophile will never ever use an AV receiver for music.

but all in all a mobile will never ever be the same as a normal Hi Fi, you are never going to get proper DACs in a mobile, as a result you lose quality and the sound will suffer.

also as a user of bower wilkins products you should only be too aware of how music should sound. phones lack mid and the bass is gravely and not pleasant, but as you say, for bike rides, gyms whatever it can be acceptable but I still prefer my MD player and always will until they make a way of letting my take vinyl to the gym with me.......

@dogmann
i am happy with the quality through phones, but not extatic. Although its acceptable, im looking for better quality now. For those who dont mind if their music play back isnt sensational, then the phone is of course good enough to use. im not saying they are useless as a player.
