My wishlist:
- Huge processor capability (upto/over 1GHz)
- Almost unlimited Memory Card support (from 16 MB upto xx- GBytes)
- Virtual Memory or paging (using Memory Card as extended RAM)
- Better screen (can be seen on direct sun light), and film protected
- WiMax capability
- Attach any 5MP (or upwards) CyberShot camera to it.
- AutoConnect bluetooth (do not need activate BT, or press any key when an already paired device is turned on)
- Better Power Management and long lasting battery.
- No bugs (so SE can farth away whenever they can -- PLEASE NO MORE FW UPDATING -- it is annoying)
- (This may apply to Operators) To have WiMax and WiFi integrated to their networks so "P990-successor" can do
a call hand over on GSM/UMTS/WiFi/WiMax networks.
- Image size adjustable using the JogDial instead using the stylus, something like the iPhone does using only your
fingers.
- Be able to use the camera-LED as a lintern.
- Radio/Phone-conversation recording capabilities
- Insert a joystick, instead of those 5 middle buttons (center botton sometimes is hard to press, due to
is too slim).
- Remove the flip and have the Qwerty keybord placed slidable (just like N95 has theirs, thus screen space
will be the whole front area, such as Palm).
- GPS is a must, such as IR, BT, WiFi.
- No need to use wired earphones to listen Radio (built in antenna)
- Audio/video output.
- Local build/compile capabilities (very own apps on Symbian or C/C++)
- Water resistant (or at least sealed just in case of any coffee spilling).
- Being able to connect USB memories to "P990-successor" and manage its information (plug in any USB flash memory
and download/upload information - no need of a PC with SE drivers installed).
- More audio/video codecs/format support (avi, ogg, awb if2/if2, etc)
...among some others (flying around my head).
Cya!

Actually I did not want this thread to turn into a wish list...
I'm planning to buy a P1i but I wanted to hear what was around the next corner - just to see if I should wait a little longer - but then again we can't keep waiting can we...?

- Huge processor capability (upto/over 1GHz)
- Almost unlimited Memory Card support (from 16 MB upto xx- GBytes) Unlimited? No, about 8 GB.
- Virtual Memory or paging (using Memory Card as extended RAM) Nah...
- Better screen (can be seen on direct sun light), and film protected Fully viewable in sun light
- WiMax capability Don't know
- Attach any 5MP (or upwards) CyberShot camera to it. No CyberShot branding
- AutoConnect bluetooth (do not need activate BT, or press any key when an already paired device is turned on) Erm, mind reading this again and then come with something realistic?
- Better Power Management and long lasting battery. Yep
- No bugs (so SE can farth away whenever they can -- PLEASE NO MORE FW UPDATING -- it is annoying) Most bugs will be fixed. Updates will come whether you like it or not.
- (This may apply to Operators) To have WiMax and WiFi integrated to their networks so "P990-successor" can do
a call hand over on GSM/UMTS/WiFi/WiMax networks. Some are starting to do this, so it's just a matter of time.
- Image size adjustable using the JogDial instead using the stylus, something like the iPhone does using only your
fingers. Already available in zoom-mode.
- Be able to use the camera-LED as a lintern. Don't think we will see this as a default feature. More likely that a third party app will do this.
- Radio/Phone-conversation recording capabilities Phone conversation recordings should be possible. At least with third party applications. Highly doubt the radio part.
- Insert a joystick, instead of those 5 middle buttons (center botton sometimes is hard to press, due to
is too slim). Joystick?????
- Remove the flip and have the Qwerty keybord placed slidable (just like N95 has theirs, thus screen space
will be the whole front area, such as Palm). won't happen
- GPS is a must, such as IR, BT, WiFi. yep.
- No need to use wired earphones to listen Radio (built in antenna) highly doubt it
- Audio/video output. doubt it
- Local build/compile capabilities (very own apps on Symbian or C/C++) to build your own apps on your phone?
- Water resistant (or at least sealed just in case of any coffee spilling).
- Being able to connect USB memories to "P990-successor" and manage its information (plug in any USB flash memory
and download/upload information - no need of a PC with SE drivers installed). don't get you on this one.
- More audio/video codecs/format support (avi, ogg, awb if2/if2, etc) perhaps.

If the P3 concept a few posts back is partially true, then it is not the P990 replacement. A slider design may be a good idea for the P1 replacement but a P990 replacement should have a flip (unless the slider is at the top).
I'm willing to accommodate a few mm.s extra thickness for the flip. For several reasons I will not consider a device without a flip. If it's a phone/PDA I want a flip, for only PDA devices it is not necessary.
My expectation from the P990 successor is:
1- Faster processor
2- At least 128 MB RAM
3- Symbian 9.5 or better (Need dynamic garbage collection to cure memory leak)
4- At least same size screen as P990 but more resolution and better viewing in sunlight.
5- Wi-Fi "G" and Wi-Fi connection option to PCs.
6- Flip
7- Qwerty keyboard
8- Lens cover (One of the big deficiencies of the P1)
9- Internal antenna for FM radio

For me there are a few features that will make me buy a P3 IF thats what it is going to be called.
1. Better Battery Life
2. A screen we can in daylight! Nokia are ahead in this respect, I did not get on with my N95 but at least I could see the screen in daylight!! The P990 screen is pony if you step outside (surely the whole point of a mobile?)
3. Bring back the 5 way wheel NOW!
4. A Flip with nice keys like the P990 flip is still the quickest way to perform many tasks IMHO
5. GPS? Nice to have, but as I have a BT Holox (the best seperate gps on the market) I can live without it if I have to!
6. Reasonable camera optics would be nice!plus the ability to zoom whilst filming movies (like the N95)
7. proper support for over 8Gb external storage
8. Decent build quality my P990i is creaking like my knees already (and yes I have done the credit card mod!)

i hope that the price will be affordable, and because of all these features that p3i is going to have, it wont be cheap
i think its going to be a bestselller when it is going to come out, if the phone is not going to be as big as p990i.
But i will expect:
5 megapixel camera
At least QVGA recording with 30 FPS
Wifi b and g
At least 2, 8" VGA screen
A decent QWERTY keyboard (not the same as P1i)
At least 128 MB ram
A dual cardreader (M2 and MicroSD) or memory stick duo (because of bigger capacity)
GPS
An update of symbian (9.5) and UIQ (maybe 3.2)
The good old 5 way Jogdial

i would not mind if the p3 becomes a (thin) slider. i was a lover of the flip, but after removing the flip of my p990i i start to like it a little bit. the p990i is much nicer without the flip.
if the qwerty-keyboard would be in the flip again, like with the p910, one could not remove the flip (without losing the keyboard). therefore a slider would be nice for me.
what i want? beside of the usual things i really would love to see the 5-way-jogdial again. in the moment i use my p910 beside my p990 and i really love this jogdial and always loved it. it is so nice, that one can scroll up and down with the wheel and that one also can open and close the submenus with this wheel, without tapping the screen. perfect for onehanded operation.
i can't imagine, why other manufacturers do not copy this 5-way-jogdial.

it would not bother me etiher if it was going to be a slider, but im quite sure that it will have the ordinary P-series design or the same as P1i
