Guys, check this before making a decision on the P1:

It has the same bugs as the P990. If you are happy with your P990 wait for the next generation UIQ3 devices with Symbian 9.5.

I have decided to buy the P1 with o2 online and just placed my order!
Couldnt wait any longer & I have 14days cooling off period where i could cancel the phone/contract...so if i really cant get to grips with the keyboard or phone then its all good...and if i love it which i suspect i will then ill keep it and also get the w960i when its released!
now just to wait for o2 to deliver my new baby!

COS, i must say that was a good decision to go for the p1 now. i agree o2 may not have that deal for much longer. just outta curiosity did you go for the £35/ month for 18 month contract or the £30/month for 24 months, as this is the next decision for me aswell now??????????

mannyS,
to answer your Question i went for:
18month texter tariff
unlimited calls or texts every Sat, Sun or Mon with Long Weekends
Online 35 -600mins / 1000texts @ £35/mo
(apparently UNLIMITED calls = 2000mins/mo - how these companys get away with that kind of advertising!! )
even though i ordered im starting to think about doing this another way so need some advice
o2 online do the same contract deal without phone for £25/mo
AND ITS A MONTHLY CONTRACT!!!
so... £35 x 18months + £20 for p1 = £650
or... £25 x 18months = £450 with only a 1month contract.
& purchase phone seperately...BUT if i was too actually have the o2 contract for 18months then i would actually be paying £220 for the p1.
NOW is that worth being tied into an 18month contract or...buy phone from ebay or soemthing like others on this forum & have a great o2 contract which is just a rolling month.
I was also on this type of 1mo rolling contract with bulldog isp and it then changed to 12mo & nadda i could do about it so....
so..what would YOU do guys? (in my position of course)
ps: i may also be able to get a p1 from hong kong by a mate at a very good price im told...its a business related matter hehe

i think u should stick with the deal u went for cos i dont think u'll get the handset off ebay for less than about 350 quid, not for a few months anyway

I may actually be able to get a p1 cheaper than what there going for on ebay, will know tommorow hopefully for sure.
still tempting having a contract thats rolling 1month and not tied into for 18months...o2 say with 1month contract i could later upgrade to an 18month with a phone..ie: w960i. my aim is to get both phones & wondering if i do keep the p1 on 18mo contract & go to buy the w960i offline it could work out to be real expensive..plus i got a feeling it may be released way before the SE suggested release time.

Interesting. All depends on how much you can get a P1i for really. If you can get it for the same cost as an 18 month contract would work out at then to me it's a no brainer to go for the rolling 1 month contract. That way when the W960i comes out you could upgrade to that on their 18 month contract for very little and have the option of then selling your P1i and having some cash in your bin!

just got off the phone to o2 and...there was a balls up with my order.
was told it was out of stock at first then was put on hold, i explained its still showing in stock on there website and then they confirmed it is in stock but not been sent out yet! it should be done today & here by 2moro.
anyways, good news regarding o2 contract..i was told today UNLIMITED calls on sat/sun/mon is now unlimited and has no longer got a 2000min limit.
