Doggmann, did you know that 02 use 3's transmitters for there 3G 02 let them use theres aswell thy have got some type of an agreement
I haven't got a grudge over 02 but there Data is too expensive!
roll on November 23rd I want a £15 tariff on a 18 month basis if im lucky lol
Thats actually wrong. Originally 3 customers when outside of 3's limited coverage roamed onto o2. However since then they now roam onto Orange. There is no backwards agreement for o2/Orange customers.

What's wrong with it being a UK spec model with an Irish CDA? Can you tell me as I'm new to all this sim free stuff. Why is generic better?

Moe frequent firmware updates I think - although i seem to remember that SE are stopping these anyway. Could be wrong though.

What are they stopping? The generic frequent updates or all updates? The phone is stable enough at the mo as far as I can tell.

** Not total Backwards for Orange but confusing.
Ill try to explain.
3 (Network) mobile phone when you are in 3G coverage you will use 3's own 3g Network (And yes they have there own 3g masts)
When you are out of 3g coverage you will bounce on Orange GSM network only.
Orange 3g. If you are out of Orange 3 coverage then if Vodafone 3g network is ava you will bounce on this one, if not you will got back to Orange gsm.
Vodafone 3g, again if you have no vodafone 3g network and you can pick up orange 3g then you bounce on this, if this is not ava you will go back to Vodafone GSM.
T-Mobile and o2 have no signed or sharing agreement yet in the UK.
o2 are currently in talks in bouncing on another 3g network by the end of the year (They were last in talks using T-mobile 3g network)
3 (3g) > Orange (GSM)
Orange (3g) > Voda *(3g) > Orange (GSM)
Voda (3g) > Orange* (3g) > Voda (GSM)
T-Mobile (3g) > T-Mobile (GSM)
O2 (3g) > O2 (GSM)
* Currently in Testing
The whole System is what the networks call "Piggybacking"
And to answer you orignal question regarding the P1. Orange currenlty have removed it due to it failing on there network. Now the failing could be anything, but it is normaly due to Oranges own software failing.
The main cause of failing is Orange 2nd line system.
However the phone goes back to the manufacture for tweeking, The phone will then go back to Orange for a 2nd network testing. If the phone fails again, it then goes into a review meeting. This is when it either gets scrapped or a 3rd chance
The Review system looks at many things,
Orange look at how many people would buy the phone, will it cause more problems for there staff, does it fit with Oranges profile, whats it shelf life, value for money, software faults and so on.
Hope this helps and clarifys things

I can tell you 100% that this is wrong. Voda 3G straight to Voda GSM, no orange anywhere.

Currenlty it hasnt been fully rolled out over the country but i can tell you that it does work
Vodafone and Orange to share UK radio access network
Orange and Vodafone are to combine their radio access networks, effectively allowing customers of each to roam between the networks in the UK.
Once completed, will create a single 3G network accessible by customers of both companies
@leeboy13
I can also tell you that the phone p1i on Orange is still in talks, I can tell you though that it doesnt look good.
Hope this helps.

There's a difference to something that will work in the future, and something that is in operation now.
