Let's not forget, Motorola was the company which had around 23% market share while Nokia had 29% a few years ago (2-3).Nokia realized Moto is a treath to their leadership and dealt with them accordingly ! Now Nokia has 40% and Moto has about 40-29
Lets hope that other companies don't venture too close to Nokia's empire otherwise they may go Moto's way
I remember the time SE was created - everyone said Nokia will be 'dethroned' as market leader within a few years. Now we have 2008 and . . . Actually it might be good this way. If SE remains below 10% Nokia won't bother, but samsung is another story. GO SAMSUNG GO

But you forget, SE's average selling price is 1.5 times that of Nokia, therefore SE need less sales to make the similar profits. It's all about the money after all.
Most people agree Moto's problems are because of Moto's decisions not Nokia's. That's probably why the changed CEO.

And yes, I believe the Moto boss pretty much runned out of options because of stiff competition from the 'Bastards', and I also believe, while SE, Alcatel, LG etc etc are too small to cause a concern, Samsung is 'another story'. Actually is all what stands between the 'Bastards' and total marked domination ala Microsoft

"Samsung Electronics Co. remains optimistic about its handset sales business in 2008 and is not interested in Motorola's mobile unit, a top Samsung executive said Tuesday.
Choi Gee-sung, president of Samsung's telecommunications division, said during an interview with CNBC that Samsung was not interested in acquiring Motorola's handset business because the South Korean company's handset division already has a strong presence in the United States.
"Our market share in the States represents around 20 percent to 25 percent," Choi said. "We don't need to consider acquisition of any others."
Choi also said the company expects strong handset sales in 2008 despite growing fears of an economic slowdown.
Consumers in emerging markets like the Middle East and Eastern Europe, as well as in Korea, China and India, have not been as worried about a recession as people in the U.S. and developed European markets, he said."

eh...nike said the same thing some years ago,that they are going to stop making shoes and focus only on making ads,commercials and stuff...that offcorce didn't happen...soo i think moto will get over this
