PK you seem quite against this...
If it were to be in a real phone it could work quite well.
As soon as the charge is fired the phone will automatically contact the police and give your GPS position to them and that way if you are in trouble you'll have help quickly, and if not.. you won't piss about with the stun feature
that'd be cool if it wouldn't drain the battery considering 800000volts of electricity for stunning, voice call, and GPS are working at the same time....

Could be a text? If the police would be willing to get an infrastructure in place.
And there could be a separate battery which could store the charge like the separate battery you get in cameras dedicated to the flash.

with the crime problems in most places its a good idea - all to often police only act after a crime has happened if at all. people should be able to carry something to protect themselves from the lowlife scum on the streets. just a shame it doesnt have phone functions. would be quite useful.

It makes me sick any of you would even consider thinking this is a 'good' idea. Really shows the maturity levels of some peole if you ask me.
Yes, it could be benefitial to those who are vunerable, but thats exactly what the manufacturer will say in its defence. 99% of them will be sold to dodgy chav like beings (human isn't a word I use to describe them...) who have the intent to harm, injure or even kill.
It's like any weapon, it will ALWAYS end up in the wrong hands.

Got a better idea then arien
If your phone is stolen,the manufacturer send sms saying this phone is stolen and bring it to the nearest police station.If no response,the thief get a "call" from the manufacturer(on repeated dialing forever)...once answered,the phone explodes after 3 seconds
"Don't phone me bro! "

Daedalus is absolutely right, it's ridiculous to start championing these things as a defence against "chavs" when all they'll do is end up arming the very people you're all so afraid of. Haven't you ever heard of an arms race? If someone intent on harming you knows that you're carrying a stun gun, then they're just going to have to carry something worse, aren't they? Before you know it, we're all strolling around with pistols.

Guys, if you are in the UK, you may want to beware of the Firearms Act. It prohibits the possession of stun guns as they come under a Section 5 Firearm:
5(1)(b) -noxious liquid gas or other thing - generally stun guns or electric shock devices, CS gas not usually cattle prods but depends on type;
