thanks, model is MacBook2,1
intel core 2 duo
2.16ghz
667mhz bus speed
boot rom: MB21.00A5.B07 (can this be updated? is there an update?)
SMC Version (system): 1.17f0 (whatever that means!)
sudden motion sensor: enabled (guess this is like the HDD protection on my vaio?)
edit: vaio is a Z21... I generally prefer the 13" range as they are a good size for performance/weight for the trips I do.
comparing this vaio with almost identical specs to the mac, this vaio is 1.5kg and the mac is 2.3kg! I know what I'd prefer in my backpack!

I have to be honest, I went into this mac thing with an open mind but after a day I can't really see the mac attraction.
the iphone sdk is actually very good and better than I have seen in similar windows sdk's, but if they did the iphone sdk on windows I'd be quite happy to forgo the mac, although I do like the default screen saver!

M - seeing as you've already got a pretty decent machine I can't blame you
Where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking? Did you ever consider a Hackint0sh?

its not that. if I take on a new challenge I go in with eyes wide open, but so far, apart from different ways to get at things, I can't see much advantage
it was an ebay jobbie from what seemed to be a respect mac ebay seller.
no idea what hackintosh is?

You appreciate the Mac when it doesn't freeze or drop a connection or tell you your network adapter is down and ask you to send an error report which is impossible as your network adapter is down or tell you that your wireless microsoft mouse is not compatible and to click here to fix, but you can't click here because the mouse is not compatible so you cant move it half an inch to click the fix button even though it has worked for months previously, or when you plug a printer into the Mac and it "just works" or a mouse etc etc
Windoze does have its plus points it just has far more negatives than a Mac!

Hackint0sh is basically a hacked version of OSX on a windows machine.
@Nanu when I plug my iPhone into the dock that came with it it tells me the bloody thing my be incompatiable!
