Exactly - coz Oftel are useless! And back to your other response, Jalu, about ARPU. OK perhaps ARPU is importnat - but it shouldn't be at the expense of everything else. Every network will have a wide mix of mobile users - some will have extremely high ARPU and obviously those will be important customer sfor them. But they will also have lots of user who spend a lot less each month - but they are still contributing to the network's profit. The network make money on every single call that is made - so it seems pointless to sacrifice the lowers spend customers (which is whaty they may end up doing) simply to concentrate on high spend users - that simply doesn't make business sense either!
The point I was trying to make was that relationships between mobile phone users can be quite complex - many people will be on one particular network because other members of their family or close friends are on the same network. If Orange make decisions that push low spend customers away then they may find that the relationships between customers are such that as low spend customers move away, some very high spend customers may also switch so that the low spend customers can still call them on-net. This is one way that ARPU cannot simply be taken on a per user basis.
0800 CCs has never been a huge problem for Orange as many people either don't know about it anyway or if they do they can't be bothered with the hassle of setting it all up - especially since lots of phones don't directly support it and it can be tricky to set phonebooks up to use CC numbers.
I'm not sure what is likely to happen with Orange after this decision. Some people may just stay on OVP Virgin and simply start using Orange for x-net calls at 35p/min. Some may switch tariff to one that still gives free 0800. Others may leave Orange completely. Personally I am just going to stay with Orange until I am ready to switch to 3 because quite frankly although Orange has proved to be quite cheap for me in the past, thay are beginning to become a lot more expensive and their recent (IMHO greedy) attitude doesn't make me want to stay with them for very much longer at all.

As @Jalu has pointed out, 12p sms on just talk is not a huge price increase.
However, the new just talk prices change the call costs one of my sim cards (Just talk with "Out here" & £50 top up tarrif) from a Orange to Orange charge of 5p per minute off peak to a massive 20p a minute THATS FOUR TIMES THE OLD PRICE.
That increase is just one of MANY small & large price rises that are being introduced by Orange, my view (like many others) is that Orange will blow it & they will be seen as untrustworthy & it will damage them, they advertise heavily towards bussiness users & TRUST is the most important thing in any bussiness.
Its not the end of the world for me but i thought i had a network for life.
Someone at Orange no longer cares about me, so i will no longer recommend them & i may stop using them as my sole airtime provider.

they are hiking up all their prices, but if you send only 5 texts a day thats 10p extra a day, then over a month thats an extra £3. add that to all the rest of the charges they are introducing, everyone will end up being charged double every month. the only thing that orange seem to be giving us in return is some 'emergency calls' for when our balance runs out....whoopydedy doo....

So get an "Orange Text Saver". £19.99 - gives you 5 "free" texts every day for a year. Works out about 1p per text assuming you use them all.
