mr flu....
the batt on yours is really bad, get it checked.
Software...people charging! this is normal. No one works for free!
I was a programmer once, its no easy, we get paid well cause it is stressful! We release software early because the users want it. Thats why they give it a version number! you know before the download how ready it is, if it has bugs, etc..... and it is the best way to de bug!
You have had the phone for 3 days! give it a chance and you wont look back!
Someone said not know charges etc.....When you buy a Ferrari, they dont tell you each tyre cost $500 each! - called commen cents!
You knew the features on what it does, before you bought it! if you didnt then why did you buy it? No one buys a $AUS1400 phone without looking into it!

@AsianFlu
I also respect you not being perfectly happy with the P800. Taste differs. But for the life of me I cannot see why you want to compare the P800 to the blackberry. These devices are in a different league totally.
The blackberry is more a messaging device than a pda to me, although it has some pda functions. Exclude the PDA/messaging functions and it is comparing a b&w TV to a colour one.
As for the gripes about GPRS, this is not the P800's flaw. It is network dependant and so is the reliability. I use both MTN & VodaCom's GPRS services (in South Africa) and have never had a problem with either. Charges is still quite high, but controlable as you can use a prepaid account to access GPRS thus controlling how much you spend on it.
Sighting the GRPS reliability as a flaw of the P800 is like blaming your modem if your telephone line is out of order.
The battery capacity isnt great, but colour screens suck batteries dry. App management could be improved, to improve battery life.
Anyway... just my two cents.

@AsianFlu
since you tried the P800 and you're not satisfied with it then buy 10 seperate devices (video player, mp3 player, blackberry, phone, bluetooth, wifi, gameboy, camera etc.)to do the work the p800 does, that way you will get to have battery life of weeks, so no complain there i suppose.
The p800 is a smartphone, neither just pda nor a simple phone. It offers many features in a simple package, thats the whole concept. No fuss with many devices. If you prefer using many devices to get what you want, then this is clearly not your phone. And don't forget it is a phone, a very advanced one but still a phone and not a f***ing laptop
p.s. oh and about the GPRS charges, maybe you should post your complaint on a T-mobile forum, this forum is for SonyEricsson mobile phones.

When i go to the toilet in the middle of the nite. I touch the screen and my p800 lights up and then we are have light!
Almost like in the bible:
"When god say give me light, it happened straight away"
- that was edited a little!! I fail bible bashing!

I have to agree a little on the 'jack of all trades' comments. I've had my p800 for a week now and it is not the best at everthing and the camera is just a waste of time. However it serves the needs I got it for. Ie a decent all in one communications device. I did not buy it to write lengthy documents on so the jotter is fine, Vodafone gprs seems to be working well and the applications I have shoved on it (and I'm being picky) have added the functionality I needed.
Re battery life, nibe was charged when I got it, I have since charged it twice and it is currently showing 7%, it was last charged three days ago (it is off from about 11:00pm till 6:00am). During the last three dsays I have been testing software on it so it has seena lot of browsin use, also with IM+, tipic me (which is crap), remote control, VNC (remote control is better). I have also been using the mp3 a bit and watched about 10 mins of video. I have bluetooth on auto, light on auto, powers save after 2 mins and I use sman to close things I don't need. I have sent about a dozen sms, a few mms, and had a few calls, some using the HBH headset. I'm hoping that the battery life will improve a bit.
Maybe if you changed provider to orange, o2 or vodafone and had decent gprs then everything else would seem better.

well, I would also say to flu to get your battery checked, or buy a new one, esp. if you bought one from ebay or something. The first charge is also critical to ensure full charge down the road... so be patient let it charge fully then put your sim in and play with it. I find people come and complain to me that their battery life sucks when they never charged the phone properly to start with, they just started playing with the phone before ensuring the cells were primed... well bla bla bla sure youv'e heard it a million times, but still there are dumbasses that still do it...

@AsianFlu
In all the threads and articles I've read on Esato, you truly are the most irritating poster of the lot!
Jeez - get a grip; if you don't like the phone, dump it. For someone who is sooooo critical of the P800, you demonstrate your complete stupidity by having bought it, clearly not having studied it's specs carefully beforehand.
Most poster's rants offer balance to an otherwise clearaly pro

- biased discussion. Your rants are just irritating.
Go buy a new Blackberry with thumbwheel wotsits, and a Nokia, and hand your Esato user i.d. in at the door on the way out!
Steven.
