LOL Patchy mate, that's because it's not correct!
Orange do have that passage within their contracts that's been described about you only using approved equipment with their SIM card they've given to you - i should know, I've signed enough of 'em! It's a breach of contract to do otherwise. Of course, they don't really care, as a company, if you use a SIM free handset with an Orange contract SIM for example - however, you cannot expect them to give 'support' for it. As has been said, the C/S team are not supposed to give help for unapproved equipment. What you do is as i've described above - don't try and get support for the handset, but for the SIM. We all know it makes not one fig of a difference where the handset came from - the issue is with account setup, handset setup or network downtime.

@simion_levi,
If you ask for help to setup a phone for a particular service (ie MMS) & they put that phone on the account as your main phone (something i do EVERY time i buy a new non orange phone to use on my orange account) then that IS approval.
What they hate is people lying to them when they know EXACTLY what phone you have been using.
The sadest thing about people who argue about Orange contract issues is that customer services is a free call for most people 24hrs a day so rather than making stuff up i suggest you ring them.

What's sad is when peope fail to read what they are signing & binding themselves to - and I quote;

6.4 Recognising that good management and security of the services is important to all Orange customers, you agree that you will:
6.4.6 use only phones and accessories approved for use with the Network, and comply with all relevant legislation or regulation relating to their use
That's it, go get out your hardcopy & read it yourself if you want. It really doesn't matter what customer services tell you is 'correct', as that's the legally binding contract in black and white.
I never said that real life mirrors what's in the contract, however - merely that the above was the case from the companies'
correct (since you put your name on the line to agree) point of view. Thus yes, of course many C/S agents won't care what handset you use. They may even 'approve' handsets you've purchased from sources outside of Orange, as they've done with yours before Patchy - but they don't have to. In the OP's case, they didn't approve it. He could ask again, but they are legally entitled to keep turning him down. They can quite rightly say that he didn't seek approval of the handset before purchase, so it's his own tough luck.
They are not doing it for this reason though, I'm sure - it's just that they have yet to see a T610 themselves (in their professional capacity), or have yet to receive the full training or authorisation to give support for the handset. That is why so many people must 'deceive' OCS - by simply not mentioning anything about a new handset when they call. Ask them to approve the handset if you want - but if they refuse, it really is simplest to just phone back, talk to a different agent with regards your problem while not even mentioning the new handset matter.

@simion_levi,Your post was well presented but a bit of a letdown, i thought you had found something in the terms & conditions that said you have to use an Orange handset that you bought on the contract, BUT IT DOESNT SAY THAT AT ALL.
All it says is APPROVED FOR USE ON THEIR NETWORK which is ANY compatable handset.Yes the contract IS worded to worry people but the word approval can be simply THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF YOUR PHONE BEING USED.
Also when you are trying to win an argument (not recomended when guys who work at orange are telling you your wrong) please get posters names right, your seeing letters in my name that dont exist, same as when you read contracts, remember ITS IMPORTANT TO BE CORRECT
Basically you have been fooled by clever wording in the contract.but good on you for openly admitting that.

To add my $0.02 worth...
"approved for use with the Network" does not mean any compatible phone, it means what it says. They do not outline or define how they approve phones but saying that it means "any compatible handset" is jumping the gun a bit.
Orangeman has basically drawn this case to a close though. Like he said, the phone is on their configurators but the fact that Orange have not yet released the phone means that their CS staff may still be unaware of how to deal with it.
Regards,
Phil.

Well you thought wrong son - all i said was 'approved for use on their network.' Pay attention. That means
anything bought from them for use with that SIM card, being automatically approved by their sale to you, AND any other handset, IF they give approval for it.

Not any 'compatable' (sic - since we're even complaining about spelling of names here) handset. That's just not true. The T610 is compatible with the Orange network. However, it is not yet approved - and nor was the Original Posters' T610 specifically approved for use on his account.

Who's told me the contractual information I have posted is wrong, except for you? And unlike some, i'm not a firm believer in the 'they work there, so they obviously know what they are talking about' theory. You show me on your own merits how well you know your subject, and I certainly know certain bits better than some OCS staff - just because someone says they are correct, doesn't mean they are - like I'm experiencing with you! What part of clause 6.4 have i misquoted then?

Where's that then? All quite clear and simple to me.
