Thanks "spc" and "arroyootje" I just ordered the brando screen protector, waiting for it to arrive. Eventhough I got my phone quite cheap because of the contract, I am not brave enough to risk it. lol. So will pay another £7.50

Read my post again, you obviously didn't understand it. The point is not that you are locked into a contract, but that you are locked into the same contract as someone with a much worse phone than yours.
The P800 is "free" on many talk plans, so is an old phone like the Nokia 6310i. Both customers pay the same per month on the same talkplan. So the customer that took the P800 got something free, which is the difference in value between the P800 and the 6310i.
The answer to the question you asked me is "not very".

I like the free voicemail exchange idea on the OVP Virgin tariff. Good plan. But for a heavy user like me, the OVP Virgin is not so cheap in total!

Yes, my point is that you would have paid the same for your contract if you had got a much worse, older model of phone on the same talkplan. So the difference in value between the old model you could have bought and the P800 you did get is effectively free.

Good point. If I was given a Ferrari, I wouldn't trash it. I would be pretty damn careful with it in fact. But if I was certain that I would be given another new one (or a better model, if available) after 10 months, I might not be quite so careful.

The screen costs a lot to replace. Once you get scratches on it, they will affect your writing. When the stylus gets caught in the grooves of the scratch, it will follow the scratch. Scratches can also sharpen your stylus and/or wear it down.
I have seen plenty of terribly scratched up screens. A phone this nice should have no scratches. A simple $10 investment will protect your phone.
The resale value of your phone will be much higher if you do not have scratches on it.

I will suggest all those who don't have a screen protector to buy one because, can you believe, I just made a scrath on my screen protector yesterday while playing gridlock. Think if I didn't have one. So a big thanks for Hippo for starting this thread because I never heard of a screen protector before and thanks to all who replied to my previous threads and who explained the benefits of the SP in the previous threads for I saved £200 yesterday because of you guys.

I have a martin fields overlay protector but while it should stop any scratches I am not so impressed with mine. For some reason mine seems to be slightly smaller than my p800 screen and you can see a gap. Another problem I have is that I cannot get rid of the "air bubbles" between it and the screen. I have tried refitting it several times but it's always the same. Any one else have these problems?

It was tricky to apply it without getting small bits of dust trapped under the protector - but I used some stick tape to remove any bits of dust. I only tried the protector to see what it would be like but I found the surface was much better for using Jot. The SE supplied stylus is not good and the Brando I find makes it easier to use this poorly designed stylus. I can't see myself not using it now.

Yes, the brando fits the screen perfectly. There are tricks on installing the screen protectors to have no bubbles. I can pretty much install these very good in a matter of minutes.
1. Scotch tape. Lay down some scotch tape on the outside of the top and bottom of the screen protector to create handles that you can use on each side. This makes it a lot easier to apply the protector.
2. Remove the flip and the flip bezel. This makes it a lot easier to line up the protector.
3. Clean your screen with lcd cleaner and a lint free cloth. Lint and dust will cause bubbles. Have a can of air ready to blow away any bubbles.
4. remove the back of the screen protector.
5. Line up the top of the screen protector to the top of the phone and start applying it from the top down to the bottom. This should be done using the tape handles so that you do not touch the bottom of the screen protector. If any dust should happen to land on the screen before you get the protector all the way on, blow it away with the canned air.
6. You now have installed the brando with no bubbles or dust...
