One suggesting.. Have next and previous buttons?.. Can't seem to move to the next song in closed flip mode. Maybe assigning play, next, previous buttons to the jog dial?

hi!
i'm a new user of the P800.
how exactly do you convert your music files into ogg files?

Well there are different methods in encoding your audio. Currently, I'm using dbPowerAmp Music Converter (windows program), it's a freebie software that lets you convert music files/audio cd by batches, you can get it at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

After you've downloaded the program, you would also need the ogg plugin for it. you can download it here:
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-ogg.htm

Just install the music converter followed by the plugin and you're all set

It seems it didn't like me using the triangle bracket things and so the page ended where I had put those in my message. Couldn't even see the edit button to change it. I copied the url from another post and then changed the message id in the link until I found my one!! Just in case anyone else has hte same prob.

Not sure if it is just this older work IE browser that had problems, did no-one else notice it? It might be something for Esat to fix?

@nigelot1

There's definately a difference between 48k .ogg and 128k .mp3. You must be deaf if you cant notice! ^_^

60-80k is what I use and is pretty much spot on.

@eva
I'm not going to get drawn into a discussion with you about the quality of my hearing (which is excellent)

Users should try 48 kbps, if they can hear artifacts/underwater shimmering type sounds then encode at a higher rate.

A forum member thanked me two weeks ago for recommending 48kbps as he didn't know it was available http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=31989&forum=35#post444649 see last post.

If you cant tell the difference (like me and my mates and 'Air') then 48 is far better (more cds per stick)

N

(Iam encoding cds not mp3)
