i had my t610 out to take pictures whilst on the river rapids in Alton Towers.......

a wage wave landed on me and my phone got wet too, so i briefly wiped it and put it away quickly

now im getting worried that some people sed their phone did not survive from little water........

Hmm nth like that to my P800 but i did drown but i did drown an 5100 nokia in a glass of beer and then stik it in hot cofe mug throu it on the other side of the pub nth happened ! Thats a tough little bastard belive me .... This message was posted from a P800

know the sad thing, I am so careful with that phone.

I never take it to work for fear of losing it.

I always ensure it is placed squarely on the table so as it dosent fall off.

I would never take it on any weekends away for fear of losing it/being stolen.

I rarely and I mean rarely drop my phone.

and if i do have it in my possession, I only take it out of my pocket if it is absolutely necessary (despite the fact ive got 10 games installed on the bloody thing).

Yet one freak incident with a glass of lemon juice and all the above is null and void.

I probably worrying over nothing and tell the truth have come to accept my fate. Its taught me one thing, pocessions are simply that, pocessions. I will never spend £300 on a phone just because of the way it looks. I will only upgrade at the appropriate times for peanuts and take out adequate insurance.

Each day I press that on button and the phone pops on, ill count as a blessing.

But have I learnt my lesson. Heck no, ill still have my phone on my bedside table each night and still continue to eat and drink off the same beside table. Arent humans fickle sometimes!

oh dear, im entering depressed mode again, 30 mins till home time, cant wait.

I use a horizontal belt case with a full loop and the phone is always there unless I am actually talking on it. I never have reason to leave it on a table unless its on the CDS-11 charger at night while I sleep.

I also never lend my phone to anyone in the pub anymore, not since a mate lent one to a girl and she went outside to get better reception and we never saw her again!

All these things are easy to say with hindsight I guess!

Here's a lesson from someone who've seen and tried everything:

If you spill a liquid (specially sugary/salty liquids) on your phone that is not water, wash it with insasne amounts of water! Water is easier to heat away and it leaves nearly nothing behind it if you use clean drinking water. And the best: pure H2O. Quick chemistry lesson: Plain H2O doesn't effect your phone immediatly because electricity does not go through it. It goes through normal water because of the ions dissolved in the water. Of course, it still effects the phone on the long term because it still causes rust. But pure H2O is available only in labs..

Either way, wash the phone with a lot of water and then heat it in a safe way WITHOUT THE BATTERY (see the instruction manual to find out the maximum heat the phone can take). Once, my friend's T68 fell in a bowl of Tabasco (!!!!!) and he acted swiftly: he immediatly poured a gallon of clean water on it and then I suggested we leave the phone outside in the hot Saudi sun (47 C in the shade that afternoon..). But you have to leave it face-down (so the screen isn't effected by the intense sun rays), without the battery (so it doesn't blow up in your face), and in a shaded area. That was about a year and a half ago. He still has the phone with R6A firmware and it's working fine (except he had to change the battery because it suffered a shorter battery life).

Do you want to do this days after the lemon juice was spilled on your T610? I honestly don't know. I have done the method mentioned above several times, but only directly after the liquid was spilled. I'm glad I'm not in your shoes. I would die if something like that happened to my beloved T610/P800/T68i.

While at a house party (god knows who's but it was good) id managed four/five pints before i needed to relieve myself.I walked up the steep,ever narrowing staircase and at the top was directed to le W.C. by a fine young women.I decide once in there that i didnt want to resort to conventional measures and decided to use the wash basin install of the pot.Woke up in the mornin to find my 3330 (this was a long time ago) in the basin totally drenched in my urine.I quickly dried it with a towel :) and left it to dry on a radiator..After 2 hours i tried turnin it on but no luck.The screen just flickered and turned off.I sent it off to NOkia and a week later they sent me it back with a note saying 'WATER DAMAGE, BEYOND ECONOMICAL REPAIR'. i was fairly pissed off but tried the phone anyway.to my suprise it came on first time.it worked for 1 month after that then i sold it to a mate whos still using it now 15 months later...........
