The nokia 7650 has only 4096 colors ........ The T610 has 65.000 colors ..... so i'm not saying that it's the explanation but it could be

Will try top run over a few points made by others here...
In general, thank's to see many on here are in agreement with some improvments we'd like to see on our T610
I'm not saying the T610 is a bad phone in any way. It's just a shame that many of us can see these faults within the 1st few days of owning a phone, when I guess the designers spent ages working on the product and apparently missed the (so we feel) obvious issues.
I'm not bashing the phone......

Re addresses, yes, I mean a street address, and perhaps a note also attached to the contact. For example someone may have two home phone lines, two mobiles etc etc. The contact list on the T619 is quite rigid and fixed, we all know that plain text takes up VERY VERY little space in comparison to say music/image files, so with 2Mb to play with a few important addresses would not kill the memory
(If they have sense the text is compressed anyway)

Phones like this are taking on more features of other products, and the one other thing you may need when you are out is somones address. If you have a T610 you will still need to carry around a PDA of a old fasioned address book.

I'm just saying it's a shame, we have a music composer (Which I doubt has much long term use) just an address book would have taken no effort, just seems odd it's not there.

The SMS alert, well, my answer would be either flash the red LED, or the very dark clock screensaver that runs all the time could change a bit when you have recieved a message.

Someone said, well it's a mobile phone. Carry it with you all the time.
I work in engineering.

1: It's a noisey enviroment.
2: It's a dirty environment.

I keep the phone on my desk as I don't wish to get it damaged/dirty (oil/grease etc) so every now and again I just look at the phone to check for a text message. If I have one, I can sort my hands out and read/reply the message.
Now with the T610 I feel I have to clean my hands to even just touch the phone only to find I don't have a message.

The second point also is as there is quite a bit of noise from machinery I can't here the bloody thing ring if I'm anything other than right next to it.. as for hearing the SMS tone, forget it.
The SMS tones are far to quiet and far to short.
There can be no physical reason whatsoever for not allowing user midi ring tones for SMS. Someone has chosen to write the software like this. I'd like to know who the idiot is...... Why impose a limitation for no reason ?

My girlfriends old 3330 Nokia has a SMS tone that is about 4x the volume of the T610 and goes on for a LONG time that you can hear it anywhere in the house.

When you think of it, the ability to hear a phone ring (be it for a SMS or call) is a primary function. and at work it's a non starter, and at home loud Polyphonics are just about ok but if you are not in a quiet room with the phone the T610 is just a non starter for sms

The thing is I WANT these things to be better. It's a loverly phone. I just can't understand why they have messed up on some totally obvious issues that are important.

in that features even my Siemens S45 is better... and it's way older...!!! I really don't think SE cares about those things... I mean... why haven't they already allowed users to chose a ringtone for SMS's????? Really... I just can't understand...

That has NOTHING to do with it.
SE did the same with T68 with 256 colours. If you have ever tested the Nokia 7650 you will know what I mean.
This is just a major dissapointment from SE.

I understand the complaints of the original poster, though unfortunately I do not have a T610.

The strange thing is that (S)E has been using the perfect solution to this problem for ages: the little led at the top of the phone. Even when your phone was in some sort of pocket or bag, just one glimpse was enough to get the necessary information.

The black-and white phones still have the always visible screen information (which can be a lot in fact) and I suppose the 2nd screen on the exterior of the clamshell phones do the same.

Nothjing can beat the practicality of the little led though. Its the one thing i miss on my T600. (The T66 had one)

I got my SE T610 last month. thought this phone is rock but unfortunetly NOT!! I fallen in love in T68i last year that is the main reason I bought this damn T610 and I regret
T610 isn't that really good. I have Nokia 6100 and Nokia 7210 both of this are much2 more helpful for me better than t610.
do you know why SE less cheap than Nokie? eventhough they have more features than Nokia? Coz SE is for Kids.. not perfect phone.. many failure... slow and more...
so, if you using cellphone just for fun or playing around, choose SE.
if you using cellphone for making call, sms, save time, better signal choose Nokia.
I know Esato members mostly SE fanatics.
OK, DOES anyone wanna trade my 1 month old T610 for NOKIA 7250i? I just wanna get rid of it.
T610 isnt good phone... failure crappy phone.. you can get it for free in the US(with 1 year contract)
