One of the reasons there's a separate power supply is so that the phone will charge even when the computer is switched off!

Wow, Nice little hack. Dead simple to make and given another hack (the "USB charger V2 hack" from www.hackaday.com) I have myself a P900 or any other SE phone with old connector that charges from a 9V PP3 battery.

is no one concerned that they're screwing up the life and charge capacity of the battery?

er, I thought as long as the P900/P910 or whatever SE phone that fits in that cradle gets 5 regulated volts DC at around 400-500mA the phone would take care of the charge.

I have done this mod well over a 18 moths ago on my p800 cradel and fitted an isloating switch to turn of the charge circuit if required ( ie, unpowerd hub) a handy thing really, it's works fine on the p800, and used daily at work with my p900. There is a thread on this going way back. Thinking of a pretty blue led in the cradel, just cos i like blue led's. Anyone done it and have pics??.

Cheers
