Just cos you say it was most popular... doesn't necessarily mean that it is... depends on where you look for that information... and anyway... the only reason for its popularity is, as mentioned above, because it is dirt cheap... or to re-phrase that FREE... maybe this has triggered the trend to buy the ugly lump... Nokia may start paying people to have them soon !

Dirt cheap? You must be a friggen millionare mate. 3650's cost $979 AU retail (thats $700 US when they arrived). They STILL now cost over $500 US.
What? Dirt cheap compared to SE's high end phones? Damn right. SE is a rip off.
A P800 was almost double the price here when they came out, yet has no more features than a 3650! (Apart from the touch screen).

which would account for the entire price difference right there. not to mention the PDA functions over and above 3650. mobiles are like cars - not only priced according to features but also according to target market. p8/900 is aimed at high-end business users, 3650 ain't.

As I have said in a previous thread, what features (software ones)does the P800 have over the 3650?
I'll tell you mate, the 3650 is a very high end phone.

absolutely agree, but it's not a business phone. anything aimed at business users is more expensive than an equivalent product aimed at, say, young adults - which is where the 3650 market lies.
if you were to look at cars for example, a luxury 4x4 costs appreciably less than the equivalent spec luxury sedan - not because it costs less to make but because the 4x4 market in Australia is predominantly families who will only pay a certain amount. the luxury sedan is seen more as either an indulgence or a corporate plaything/status symbol.
back to mobiles, the p800 touchscreen don't come cheap so naturally it's more expensive than another "equivalent" phone with a smaller non-touch screen.

Sure, I'm willing to allow a slight price increase due to the screen etc... but nevertheless (thats such a stupid word, but heck, I used it still) the P800 is/was more expensive than what its worth.

i agree that it's over-priced, at least in the Australian market - but then so is 3650 IMHO. hence, my non-ownership of either. however, that doesn't mean i'd say no if somebody gave me one
come to think of it, most phones on the Australian market are over-priced.
actually, another reason for the price difference would be nokia's consistent handset subsidization with the networks from day one of sale. with

it seems to take a month or two before they become subsidized.
