> Free P900 at CPW?

What, the link? They do, Orange 700 they call it though. £49.99 on that £70per month tariff - though the Link, like everybody else in Britain, no longer have any P900's left to my knowledge - couple of week wait at least for most dealers, so I hear. Very glad I did an impulse buy last when I did.

No i'm talking about CPW, And they had one, but it was reserved.
Anyway, while i was in the queue I picked up the returns policy, and it doesn't say you have 14-days for your money back.... So if you can't change down, then you're a bit screwed...

Just to throw a few pebbles in the pool!
The P900 failed testing at banbury last week, therefore nowhere will be receiving anymore P900's until SE change the S/W and get it all up to speed again!
On this here tariff changing stuff, you CAN change your tariff on orange as often as you like! as some-one has pointed out, it wont actually change until your next billing date, no where in Orange T+C does it state the minimum 3 or 6 month tariff! thats only so the shop doesnt get any like wahat we call "tariff downgrades" clawbacks,
If you speak to any person in retail we will advise you that you have to stick on a tariff for 3 months so we can fully claim our commission, but you can change your tariff as soon as you walk out that door!!
hope this cleared/helped a few people?
oh and i dont mind loosing commission! so pop in to my orange shop! not that we have any P900's! LOL

You do have 14 days money back. I believe it is your statutory right as a consumer. I have in fact returned a handset to onestopphoneshop within 14 days. I dont know about CPW but when i worked at The Link we did have a 14 day policy. However you are still liable for any line rental and call charges incurred in those days.

lol, well if you were selling it for free then I would!
But just as an aside, why do no phone shops, or people in phone shops know anything about phones? I mean, everytime i've been into my local orange shop i come out laughing. Whenever I ask about phone that are coming out, they never know about them, even if they are getting them in the next day, they allways seem to think i'm refferring to a t68i or something. One time I went in, and the told me that the phone were Expensive, "with a capital E". lol. I went in to check out the p900, the woman first didn't know what it was, then asked her boss who gave her a p900 to show me, she then told me she'd never used it, and steered clear of phones like that, having never touched a p800 either. The manager then asked if i could show him how to use the p900, I mean come on, and they're supposed to give real advice to people looking for a phone. All I see them doing is slapping a nokia in their hands and asking if they want any text message bundles?!?!
Sorry, that was a bit of a rant, and i know it was a bit generalised, but i've still not found someone in a phone shop who know's what they're talking about. But at the same time, most people buying phones know even less, so I suppose it balances out.

spot on fatreg!!!
orange do claw back commisions from dealers if customers lower the tarriff in the first three months, it is up to the dealers to try and prevent this, if they dont then they lose out on full commission. simple as that, most dealers take your credit card details and charge you what they lose if you change tariff.
cpw and orange retail are the only retailers that i know of who dont claw back off the customers.

With regard to CPW 14 day guarantee...
Page 53 of their current catalogue states that if you are not happy with the phone, they will basically exchange it for a different one... there is no mention of a refund...
However, when you purchase from a store, if the product is not suitable for the purpose for which you bought it, and the staff are aware of this, then you can return it within a defined period... you have statutory rights as a comsumer, which you should always check before you buy if you are unsure...
If you purchase from the internet, it would appear that you haveincreased rights under the distance selling rules... products can be returned, I think within 14 days, for just about any reason, and this applies to just baout anything...
I am conscious of the fact that i can downgrade sooner than the 3 months with orange, having bought from CPW myself as mentioned above... although when you have a new phone, sometimes you just want to use it, and so i may just keep the tariff as it is for the defined period, and then reduce it...

You can return your phone in 14 days to CPW direct for a refund, but not the proportion of line rental & calls you made, although i have heard of them overlooking the charges, the CPW brochure only says "exchange the phone for another" to throw you off the scent, as it says MONEY BACK in terms & conditions & on back of reciept.
NOTE for people buying on Orange through CPW "ONLY" for the phone & NOT intending to use the sim/contract, it is important that you REGISTER the sim & make AT LEAST one call from the sim before you put it in the cupboard to gather dust, this is for people imediately downgrading to Orange HSD in particular which has no free minutes or free sms.
