What about users in the USA? I got a good deal on an Orange P900, now I'm stuck with this firmware? I can't go to my local Orange shop for service, there are none!

@ DJ Teknosys
Move to Britain, we have Orange shops

Seriously though, am I right in saying that this chap could go along to an SE service centre and have his phone flashed, thus ridding it of the Orange firmware?
@nightshot
I can't believe you didn't even attempt to reply! For the love of God man, what is wrong with you? Either I am getting better or people on here just don't appreciate a good flaming anymore. What is this world coming to?

We don't have SE service senters either. Well, we have one but it is in another state and I'd have to send the phone out for few weeks....

I'm with Scotsboy on this pointless BigFeat flame, there's no need for it. He was just stating fact and he was right that if you looked elsewhere on the forum that the issue of Orange fw upgraded has been covered and documented, in fact speilberg is looking into the film rights - he wants to call it "Flashpoint Orange". Apparently an Esato member gets so frustrated with no being able to flash his Orange P900 that he goes on a one man mission to terrorise Orange.
I too have the Orange issue, but i didn't find Big's comments to be infuriating - i was actually glad someone stood up and shouted out the blinding facts that people obvously were missing!

I hope you are aware that Drew upgraded his phone in an "Orange" retail shop and it happens they flashed it with the latest SE OEM firmware.

I today visited the Orange shop in Oxford St and got mine upgraded to the following versions:
Phone R3C006
Bluetooth R5D
Organiser R2B02
CDA R2A10
All Orange customisation gone now - new clock is great, and it has a nice "fade" effect on the light now instead of going out instantly!
So far so good! although had a few crashes on SMS which is concerning
Camera seems better quality now as well and the bluetooth LED seems brighter but that might be just an illusion?
If you want it doing it's free if you have Orange Care and £7.95 if you don't, bearing in mind it's an Orange service centre it won't invalidate your warantee either!

As this is the P800/900 forum, I would of thought it was self explanatory that I was talking about the P900 upgrade (homeflash).
So am I to presume that nobody has done it?
Look at the 2nd post made by the member that started this thread states....
I understood what the subject line was implying when I first read through it. That is why my initial post was what it was to Drew... I even re-iterated his/her point in my post to Drew. So I didn't know why it was relevant for anyone to mention getting their Orange phones flashed to the OEM firmware from a repair shop.. There was no value added with those posts. They had NOTHING to do with the intent of the subject of this thread. I thought most would get that even after the original poster had clarified that point.

Had a thought..... there is a recovery option on the online updater. What would happen if you were to accidently "stop" the update midway through, and then run the recovery module which apparently (according to the site) put your phone back to the last CDA version. Would this not mean it would flash your phone with a prior version of the s/w that was not Orange. This meaning that you could then update to the latest version online. Any thoughts???

@Rossi
I believe the updater keeps checking for the CDA throughout the process. These options have been tried before and failed because of this.
