ow yeah, I forgot, most of them will/may/have change(d) their name:

Vodafone (was Libertel)
Dutchtone (will be Orange)
Telfort (will be O2)
Ben (may become T-Mobile)

is now
Vodafone
T Mobile
KPN (hi and Mobile)
Orange

and.... Telfort

telfort became O2 and now is back to being Telfort.
Their service still sucks though... even after all the changes

There are three operators in PORTUGAL:
- Optimus (has some Orange participation).
- TMN (owned by Portugal Telecom)
- VOdafone (formerly Telecel)

It was supposed to have one 4th operator for 3G named ONI but it "died" before even lauching any service, and then the other operators "cannibalized" it's things.

this thread was launched quite some time ago. many things may have changed in the meantime. well, eh, as for our english friend who disliked the idea of this thread: keep up the good work in uk, dude. u have so many gsm nets there and so many options that u,ve become an igorant. i am interested in what these guys here have to say, despite the fact that, indeed, i can find this stuff on google myself. till then, for whomever it may concern, Romania has 1. CONNEX GSM, 900Mhz(2mil subs.), 2. orange, gsm 900 Mhz(2mil subs.), 3. Cosmorom, gsm 1800 Mhz(50000!!! subsc. hehe), and 4. Zapp Mobile, CDMA 2000, 450Mhz(800000 subs.). got services on all as follows: cosmorom for voice calls, any net, anytime (good deal), connex for voice (just 4 being called), orange subs. for wap unlimited gprs and prepay for receiving calls (bonus 1USD for 100mins of received calls hehe) and Zapp for rrrreally high speed internet/data calls. hope this suits u all guys. by the way, if ever travel 2 Romania log onto orange (better coverage), although i particularily hate it.
