Quite predictable that games would be popular hey !...

On the spectrum emulator note i mentioned, i wonder whether it would be possible to run an amiga emulator on the P900...

I recall a topic on it a while back, which appears to have dwindled away...

Not only would it open up access to quite popular games, I recall having a scorched earth type game on my A1200, but there were also many useful "work" tools... wordprocessors, databases and graphics programs... these types of program are pricey and feature lacking when developed specifically for the P900...

An emulator may seem more work, but the potential that it unleashes is greater than any singular program that could be made...

Come on talented programmers... stop reading and get to work... now!... heheh

I think something like a "wiki for symbian" would be a killer app. Some become to appear on the palm:

Some examples:
http://palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodid=36156
http://pitecan.com/PalmWiki/index_e.html
http://tertius.org/software/hypernote/
http://palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodid=44005
http://www.jera.com/wikipad/
http://www.mindmason.com/
http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiForPalmSeven
http://thoughtstream.org/

Basically, imagine a jotter app whith "automatic links" betweens works on them... a local, "mini-www"

Regarding jotter I would like an app that would recognise a handwriten number from the jotter and then dial it directly from there!

I would love to see more developed video player.
I'm looking at lowering the size of videos, whilst retaining the video quality, by using different sound coding.
I can save 25% by using an mp3 sound input, or even OGG.
A video player which can use codecs would be great.
A universal player could be created, playing both audio and video clips.
The codecs could be written by people with the knowledge of each seperate audio source, appossed to relying on the original author to have to learn each on seperately.
It can also keep it future proof.

@8legs:

SMan's file manager is so "DOS" like coz the idea was to create all the functions people expect in a file manager using the least amout of CPU and memory. We expect SMan to be running in the background and if SMan was eating up 4096K like some other program similar to SMan but has skins and costs money, you would most probably not want it running in memory.

We think SMan's file manager is the best in the market so far for UIQ platforms and have quite a bit of improvements in the file manager components (I am using a v1.3 alpha copy) and even if somebody else does make a better file manager, SMan is FREE!

@all:

If you are going to write any application for UIQ for free and need pointers, you can download the SMan sources from my site (see signature). The usage licensing is also quite attractive. You can do anything with the source code, even for commercial use, but two things need to be done:

1. Give credit to Droll (ie. Portions taken from SMan sources by Droll Software).
2. You are not allowed to port any portion of SMan to a NOk*a or compatible platform.

Ohh... we only release the source for the previous version of SMan. If we release v1.2, v1.1 sources will be made available.

I would like some alterations om the system, if that is possible to code. The things im looking for is:

See who the message(s) is from before opening them. Now it only says "1 new message". I would like to see: "1 new message from pb76"

I also miss the feature to see the name and number on a person calling me when i have the option to see a big picture for the contact calling.

Is there any program outthere that allows increasing alarm signal? I now use an mp3 as an alarm, but when the alarm goes of i almost fall out of my bead because its so loud. I would like to have the option to set it to increasing.

I to would like the shoppinglist program.

I have personally thought about coding a program to have my buss-schedule in my phone. And have the option to say, where i am and where im going and the program will tell me when the next buss is leaving. But i only know some VB, and most ppl want the UIQ-apps in C.

Keep upp the good work!

I've been busting ass working on my new Shuttle PC, setting it up as my multimedia box hooked up to my TV. The issue with using a PC hooked up to a TV in the living room is interfacing with it. I'm trying out tightVNC, an open source cross platform Virtual Network Computing program. If the viewer program (of which there is a Java version available) were ported to the p800/p900, the phone could be used as a wireless keyboard/mouse/terminal.
Which would be badass, imo.

Keep that thinking! Small and efficient is the way to go
too many apps go for looks in first priority and ends up slow
and resourse hogging (windoze).
