I am also having trouble connecting.
I see the 'Orange' Logo and it says connecting... underneath but does nothing else.
My connection information says
Data Sent: 0 KB
Data Received: 0 KB!

I am on O2-UK and have an O2 Online PAYG SIM and I'm using GPRS on a P800 (f/w R2F)

For T-Mobile USA T-Zone users having problems connecting:
I contacted the OrangeScribble help desk and this is what I got back.

It looks like the wap.voicestream.com APN only allows t-zone users to connect to their wap server. You need to be able to access the OrangeScribble Jabber server in order for scribble to work. If you have the right internet plan from T-mobile, you should be able to get it to work by changing the APN to internet2.voicestream.com or internet3.voicestream.com. So far I am not sure if you can get these settings with t-zones (I have sent a query to t-mobile on this). I understand that OrangeScribble requires TCP access to port 5222 (the default Jabber port) on their server. Your mobile phone operator must allow this connection for OrangeScribble to work.

So 2 questions:
1. Are there any t-mobile usa/t-zone users that have accessed scribble.
2. @blount - is the information I have received accurate.

Just press the "page plus" icon (above the buddies icon) for more "paper". You lose the old stuff as you go.

@masseur re: scribbling to yourself:

Yes, scribbling to your own page is transmitted to the server. The reason is partly historical: older prereleases of the software did not locally cache ink -- the client would load conversational context every time it was started. Self-ink went to the server because otherwise, you'd never see it again after you'd logged out. Now that we have the local storage, there is less need. The only practical reason for it now is so that the self page behaves the same as the rest of the pages. If you lose your handset or switch to another handset, the client is able to pull the old ink back from the server so you haven't lost everything.

And your handwriting improvement suggestion: hmmmm. A tall order I'm afraid, though I'm sure mine needs at least as much help as yours!

@bensonl: The info you described sounds right: OrangeScribble needs access to port 5222 on our server. We don't know much about all the operators GPRS policies, port blocking, etc... you have to talk to them. We'll try to get this info into the FAQ.

@dalewinterstein: We don't have a "clear page" button at this time, but we have played with it in the past. While clearing is straightforward, it often left the clearer's buddy asking "where'd all the ink go?" especially if the page was cleared when they were offline. This might be mitigated by a message saying "your buddy cleared the page" or somesuch, but we thought we'd try it without the clear for a while. chucky_egg said it well: just click the "add paper" button to add more writing space, and eventally all the old ink scrolls off the top anyway.
