all ideas where already alive, only the design changed abit. symbian OS7.0 was ready with ericsson's communicator, it just got abit better because the delayed the lauch (which was a good thing). but SE has only gotton profit once, and thats because they don't produce enough. ericsson always produced enough in my eyes, the only problem was the lauch dates, which is still a problem now.

i know it they can't just split over one day, but if things turn out bad, it might happen. remember sony is restrucering all noneprofit departments. SE still has alot of debt.

in fact when you go thru Ericsson history...the same thing happen before.....Before Ericsson mobile communication....it was a JV between GE and Ericsson. I only realise it today when I read the thread about the history of E///

Well that happen like in 2 to 3 yrs time so it is not suprising that 3 yrs from today, things change. As mobile phone industry evolve too fast.

Remember T68....it was out 2001 and see what is everyone offering now. Phone must have camera with video recording function

idd but ericsson always gave us things as a pioneer.
touch screen, bluetooth, poly lion battery's, camera, portable keyboard, small color screen phone. and is there any thing SE gave us as new stuff? 3G true but were not the first company on the market with such a thing. well think think... symbian os7? nope it was already alive in the /// comunicator. ah yes pc cards thats true, and the BT car, but thats it. a 1.3mega pix cam was only for japan which was pretty dumb since there was demand for that everywhere for the past 2years.

so i would really like to see something new and inovationtif from SE

While i acknowledge that E/// and Sony both have their strengths, personally, i felt both companies were heading to a dead-end. Individually, they had something that made them good ... but not great.

Both had some inspiring designs and technologies, no doubt about it. While E/// was slowly declining in sales, so was Sony.

But look at them now. As the saying goes, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. SE retained all of the designs of old, paying tribute to interface of old designs of both E/// and Sony (softkeys of T28, T39, T68, casings and frames of J5, Z5). Scrutinize the designs carefully and you will find the familiar in them.

Another tribute to come, the merging of UI. Take E///'s folder interface and Sony's Icons, and you get K700's new UI. Touted the simplest UI to date.

Know need to know where you were to know where you're heading to. That's precisely what SE is doing. Take the strength of the parent companies and forging a new entity to challenge the future.

Sales of P800, P900, T610, T630 & Z600 have proven without a shadow of a doubt that E/// & Sony should stay together and carry on with their winning plan. Surprises are still coming our way and the best is yet to come.

As much as i loved E/// and Sony (used both before), I cannot wait to see what SE has in store for the future.

i agree that SE is making the best phones of today. but you're wrong about sony's icons. the T68m already had icons. they only thing sony did is change the buttons. which is good and not good. i like the yes and no key. but this new UI is also good. so the UI of K700 is mostly to thank from ///
and so there good at selling high end phones (but not in large numbers because of to limited stock). but what about the mid level and low end phones? that means market share.
all those nokia fans are saying there number 1 which is true. we know that we've choses the best brand for phones, but it would be better that we could also say hey we're number 1 now.

it look clear that some like it the way it is, mostly the new users.
some would go back to sony and some to ericsson.
i'm sure that all to old members would agree that ericsson had alot of new stuff planed for us, but that hardly anything saw the daylight, because of the joint venture and part of the restructuring at ///

i wonder what the results will be, i wonder if most people would like a split or no slipt. (lol if they split i would have to rethink my hole site )

If I have to choose Ericsson or Sony - Ericsson for sure! Why? Lot's of people here have already grounded it.

PS. What would happen if Nokia and Motorola join hands? To be Nomo

They are good as they are. If it wouldn't be anymore , then would go for the company, who makes the best phones. It musn't be Ericsson or Sony. As I said, they are just fine as a Sony Ericsson.
