Another advantage of the P900 is the fact that you can buy it now. The E398 isnt out and hasnt got a price (that I can find) so how do you know that it is going to be good value. And where can you buy the mem cards?

Well, its out in India. I dont understand how it cant be available elsewhere!. As of today, the P900 costs around 35K here and the E398 is just around 13K.
And you really, really have to see the Camera quality.. I was stumped when I saw the pics on its screen, that too at night... There was no "dark"ness, no curved edges. The quality was crystal clear. And the MP3 sounded superb too. I do agree that Motorola is usally not so good with the panels, most of them are flimsly with the paint coming out etc ...

Quote:And as for your bottle opener example, give me one solid example of something you do on your P900 which you cant do on th E398. Dont come up with the usual suspects (i.e, touch screen, installing APPS etc ..)
The "usual suspects" are pretty significant you know, and I already made various and valid extra points that the P900 has over and above the E398, perhaps you should re-read it. But since you want more, tell me: can you program in Symbian for the E398? Can you read & write Word or Excel documents on the E398? Can you watch a full-length 1hr 40min MP4 movie on it? Can you fit 3-4 full CD's worth of MP3's on it? Does it have full HTML web browsing capability? Need I go on?
Quote:I have emphasized earlier, its not about the capabilities of the phone, its about how much the same technlogy costs in other handsets and have give enough examples to prove my point.
But it's
not the same technology. How much more clear can I make it? You are NOT comparing two same class-category phones.
Quote:Remember Ignorance is not always bliss.... you have to accept the fact sometimes. SE is definitely costly when it comes to the technoligies it packs inside the P900.
I'm not arguing that the P900 is not highly priced, it is, perhaps too high. But as I've stated over and over again, you get a LOT more technology for your dollar. Sure, it'd be nice if the P900 had a smaller price tag, but there's no way in a million years that it'll ever be comparable by price to the E398, and nor should it be.
[edit]
The E398 is available here in Australiasia as well. I can't remember how much it is exactly, but it's roughly around the same price range as SE's K700i, as it should be.

The correct title for this thread would be "The Motorola E398 is _CHEAPER_ than a P900". Which is a well-known and non-arguable fact, so why talk about it?
Regarding features: people who own a Pxx0 but do not realize there is a computer built into it indeed better buy ordinary, non-smart phones.

Agreed, but this thread is not too much for the E398, but for Motorola in general. I have earlier mentioned that the A780 packs in as much punch as the P900, the only difference is that runs on Linux. I have used that also and its does the job again at half the price!.
So why does SE charge so much for the P910? Huh? Tell me? If you are answer is "people are ready to pay", then SE have their gunie pig ready and waiting to be cut open!

I think the only argument that can be made in favour of the P900 is maybe it was probably the *first* company to pack in all these features together into one phone. And backed by the response and fan following it got for its P800, it deicded to price it so high. And its now doing the same thing with the P910..
I am really not happy when people charge different prices for the same stuff and feel I am cheated. Especially when it comes to something thats so costly.
AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, DONT TAKE ANY OF THIS PERSONALLY. I REALLY LIKE THIS FORUM AND ALL ITS MEMBERS. THESE ARE JUST MY OPINIONS AND ARE NOT MEANT TO HARM ANYONE.

Luxury women cost non-proportionally more than ordinary ones, although their base features are the same. You decide if you invest or rather cry about the price...

Don't worry sbjg, I'm not taking anything personally. Likewise here, I hope you don't take my debating too seriously, I'm just stating a few valid points as you are.
Anyway, we're going around in circles and if I continue, I'll start repeating myself. So, perhaps we should just agree to disagree?
I hope you enjoy your E398; I've played with one in a local Vodafone store, read many reviews, and it does look like quite a nice little phone for it's class.
I'll stick with my P900 smart-phone because well, it just suits me. I don't think I could go back to using a non-smart-phone now.
Well, onwards and upwards!

Ok! ... Thanks for the inputs anyways. I still love my P900 and its my prized possession, but if SE could gets its price down, there would be more people happier like me.
