come on, its not an mp3 player - and its not marketed as being an mp3 player - its a phone. A phone with 12mb memory is great - for storing pictures, themes, games, ringtones (which thankfully can also be true sound, mp3)
loose that riddicolous concept idea of the word "mp3" allways meaning a full fledged musicmachine carrying your entire musiccollection.
The word mp3 only symbolize a compression format - nothing else
If you want an mp3 player you should get such - K500/K700 are phones - that unlike the T6xx series have enough memory and now also can have true sound for ringtones instead of only midiblips - these are the two main features I missed in my T610 and a big step up. Nokias have had true sound possibility thorugh wave files for a long time - now also S//E phones has that ability but even better through a compressable format like mp3 making it possible to have higher quality sounds at a lower filesize - great for keeping lots of nice ringtones.
Neither k500 nor k700 were ment as replacement for advanced mp3 players - it just have mp3 playback functionallity so that you may use real sounds as ringtones - which gives a lot more possibilites to personalize your ringtone.
K500 is designed to compete with for instance phones such as CX65 which does not have the mp3 ringtone feature. It is not designed in any way to compete with peoples Ipods or whatever.
Do try to get a grip
Customers dont have to be brainless idiots by definition - they are allowed and expected to be able to think and make descisions based on info by them selves.
S//E simply list info about the functions this phone support - then its up to you as cutomer to descide if these functions support your needs or not. If not then simply look for another phone - I see no point in whining about a phone you didnt even get - If I should whine about every phone I descided not to get because it missed a feature I wanted - then I should make 100 posts.
S//E shouldnt have to make a detailed paragraph under each funtion describing what its not - like:
funtions:
VGA cam - but please note that this is not a 5mp digicam and will not deliver pictures of that quality.
Videorecording - but please note that this is not a proffesional DV-cam
Polyphonic Midi - but please note that this is not a proffesional synthesizer
Mp3 - but please note that this phone does not have storage for 5000 mp3 songs.
You as customer are expected to be able to figure this out for yourselves.
If you are so much into wanting an mp3 player with phonefunctionality - why not look into for instance the E398, which unlike the K500 are being marketed on MTV and elsewhere as an "mp3 player" and does have memoryslot for that purpose.

Iīve got about 500 Gb in my computer and that isnīt enough.
Just to realize that we never will be satisfied. Be happy with the things out, they are doing as good as they can to reach to our demands.

I agree that since K500 and E398 are in the same pricerange they are direct competitors - I also beleive the K500 comes out shourt in this respect. In my opinion the K500 - though nice - is overpriced compared to competitive phones in the same pricerange. It should drop to a more reasonable level very soon - otherwise it wont be a good contender.
