maybe SE thinks that it has the "S" part in the name, that's why they believe that the tradition of "S" should be followed (i.e. it is SE rights to demand higher price you and as a true fan u should be happy about it).

The phone is nice and all, but i'd rather wait for the quality to increase even more. In a few years, the phone cameras will have to be around the same as a very good digi cam, around 5 to 6 megapixel. As we can already see, samsung and the other asian phone makers are already aiming for 2 to 3 megapixels. :-)

why do you people always whinge about how this phone is more ex and for the same price you can get a lower end phone plus a good digi cam. Get over it, some people like an all in 1 combo like me. if you got a problem with spending so much why try to change other peoples views? id buy the s700 in a snap and im going to. i know i can probably get an ipod, digi cam and a 6230 for the same price but im not oging to cause al those 3 things arent an s700, and i want an s700. thats all there is to this argument.

@mib1800: i guess u understand it wrong.I ain't no fan! I just like a quality product as long as i get it for the right price and this time i don't! I am not a fan of anything, i see that as some kind of religious feeling and i don't like it.
There r other brands too i can choose from as long as i have the same tech characteristics and lower price.

There is the new nokia megapixel camera phone. decent size, in carphone warehouse.
£249.99
no contract!
I know

are better, so

should price a bit higher because their stuff is more quality, but for an extra 250 pounds rrp, i really dont think a swivel design is that much of a turn on.

i am useing a T630 right now, and saw the new S700i at the local store i really like it and want it bad the screen is amazing 256k
but i think i will get a K700i inplace of my T630 and wait for a new model to come out to replace the S700i and then buy the phone.
PS
i think i read at the SE site that the S700 has a scratch proof screen ???

you do have to take into account that you have a 12 month contract at about £30 a month making the total you pay for the handset- £439.99.
I see this argument come up in every discussion about buying phones with contract vs buying phones offline. And it always amazes me that people accept this argument and fully surpass the fact that people that buy the phone offline.........
still need a line to make their calls on!
In other words they have some sort of subscription or other and make the SAME cost for calling and data and texts and so on and so forth........... So essentially they simply pay more over a full year period.
Btw, on topic, the S700i comes FREE with subscription overe here

I do agree with what you are saying vlamm i was merely pointin out that the phone does nt just cost 79 pounds that the contract is used to pay off the rest like an interest free loan. I always buy on contract as i find it cheaper
