> Firmware upgrade on Orange

Ok, I'm feeling a real need to explain my story here and you may find this useful, you may not.
I have two SE P910i's in the house as my dad always seems to buy the same phone as me and both had the generic Orange F/W (CDA162006/5 R1B01). They were both purchased through Orange direct within a week of each other. Both phones are built in the same week/batch 04W44 (if the dating process on the back hasn't changed from T68i).
Both these phones have an irritating issue where by for some reason (once you fill up a certain amount of memory I think), it slows down to a point where it cant even receive calls or do anything. I got fed up resetting them so started looking for a non-orange related solution (they are so slow).
I found the new SE update on their website and proceeded to upgrade the first phone which upgraded SUCCESSFULLY, no issues at all.
I went to upgrade the second phone, on the same PC, cradle and even battery. The second phone started to upgrade, it asked me to turn it off as usual and it did its boot up & shutdown bit. After this I continue the install and it fails saying it cannot communicate with the device. I have tried this multiple times, upgraded/reinstalled the SE PC suite, turned off everything on the PC, reset the phone normally and through the service menu. I've even changed PCs twice repeating the process, but it WILL NOT work.
Orange are trying to look in to it (its only been two weeks since I first logged the call, but then again I suppose it is Christmas). All I can come up with is it must be the phone although it seems quite a few people are running into this. Its baffles me a bit to think there is such a wide-spread fault with the phone but I can find no reason!
Its a little bit irritating as I've come to SE from an SPV E200 because I hated the slowness and instability and now I seem to have hit it again.
Incidentally, my dads P910i with the upgrade now works fine although it *may* be turning itself off on the very odd occasion.
I hope this may shed some light on what people are discussing and if anyone happens to know any solutions I would appreciate a link or something (I have been searching so don't have a go).
Please excuse the posting on new years, I'd be living it up travelling half way across England by now drunk as a fart with my mates but visiting the relatives gave me flu.
The End
