Interesting. So a conclusion could be to take all images in 320x200, to save disk space, and then blow up images in photoshop or similar, if wanted.

True ... IF the phone camera was used with tripod.
Since you don't, and you can not avoid to shake a bit while holding the camera, the two photos actually capture different images, and the interpolation creates a third image that has detail of both (but also 50% of interpolation junk)
On the other hand, if you did shake a bit too much, the two images are so different that they blur out each other and the final image is not as good as a single image.

I agree with what the autthor of this post says, that is, sometimes, the final image that gets stored is blurred, but just after I take the photo, it seems to be fine. This does suggest that after the pic is taken some s/w interpolates and stores the final image.

One day all camera phones will be just as good as their dedicated counterparts.

I think this is a fair complaint/point.
All you people that claim "its a phone and not a camera" are kinda missing the point. Perosnally it annoys me a bit that on a £500 phone the camera function is substantially less in quality than the camera found on units half its price. I'm not saying it makes the P9X0 sh*t but its a bit cheeky given that this is supposedly one of the highest priced and most advanced units available to mobile users. I think a good and fair point has been made.

Yes, and what will they upgrade it to on the next model?
A 1.3MP camera? But when you get it home it's only 700k?
I think this sort of thing is misleading, and that's me being polite.
(And another thing, they shave 10% off the memory stick capacity figures as well...)
