Keep the mods in charge. Otherwise it would not get anywhere. Too many cooks..... (see quote of Churchill)

Churchill said many things.

what the point of this thread?

what's the point of voting on everything? Is esato some kind of country now and we have to preserve our rights?

The mods have been doing a great job and seeing as we don't have any major complaints about the mods i think we're doing just fine.

and as for that churchill quote i think its's "too many cooks spoil the soup."

Being relatively new.. Am wary of replying to this.. But anyway here goes.. Sounds a bad idea to me .. From what ive seen in the time ive been reading forums here.. Is that the mods and admins are doing a good job.. No need for a change in that direction... This message was posted from a K700i

I don't believe anyone in support of this idea has suggested we vote on 'everything'.

Rights? Where did that come from?

I wasn't aware that I, or anyone else in support of this idea, had stated anything to the contrary.

i believe that you've misused my quote

i meant that because the mods have been doing a great job (which none of us dispute) we shouldn't have to vote--the mods are perfectly capable of making the decision. If we have a complaint or question I'm sure a polite PM will either make them reconsider or they can explain why they did what they did

edit: And don't you think that voting on certain issues will make matters more chaotic? I mean, its hard enough for the mods having to read through every thread and make sure i'm (i mean WE) are behaving and having endless discussions on what threads should be locked, what members should be warned, etc etc wont make anything better. It's a much better alternative to go and privately talk to a mod if you have issues with a discussion they have made or if you feel something is borderline.

@kim

I think you have missed the point of the suggestion. Not that any of this matters a great deal as this is very unlikely to be approved anyway, but one can still let one's voice be heard.

but if the mods are going to have the final say then whats going to change?
at the moment they discuss between them and make descisions. why involve us and create more pointless work for everyone? this "borderline case" doesnt exist, if the thread is a serious case, delete it. if its gone off course send it to garbage. garbage is still part of esato even if some members tend to look down on it a bit. there is nothing wrong with a thread going to garbage like has been suggested earlier.
another point is for the first couple of cases alot of people will vote because its a new thing but after that only the same few will vote. these will be seen as wannabe mods and may create tension/divisions that we dont need.
the system works. if it aint broke dont fix it.

Please read the THE RULES OF ESATO and you will see there is a line "No personal offending". I take this as well as, "No public offending"!

I believe the moderators should be doing that.
