dts-phile, actually there are quite a few new "things" in the 6630 ! 3G - EDGE - GPRS Combination (unique on the market for a top selling cell) , and a superb CCD Camera to name just a few.

Spot metering is where the exposure is based on a single spot in the frame, as opposed to an average of the entire picture. Useful when you want to make the subject on the center of the picture the correct brightness. On a normal camera, spot would refer to both the focal point (where focussing is aimed at) and the exposure. Since the S700 is a fixed focus camera, it is only exposure that is "controlled" And even that, its not controlled by a mechanical means, but electronically. Good Digital cameras use a proper mechanical shutter/aperature to give very very focussed shots.
For those wanting an example of a good shot taken with the S700, look below. Its a picture of my house. I took in in Megapixel mode with Whitebalence set to "daylight" and the camera held VERY still. The day was a bit "dull"
After taking the pic, I imported it into PaintshopPro, and reduced the resolution, and oblitherated the Number plate of the car. Otherwise nothgin else was done to the pic.
now this is a part of the same image, NOT scaled down, but just a clipping, to show closeup the quality of the pic.
notice there is some "dithering" and graininess, but the model number of the car is actually quite sharp. This is because the S700 does not perform a filter on the resulting image. A filter averages out the pixels in order to reduce the grain, and is used by "cheaper" digital cameras to hide flaws in the camera's CCD (which is why a good quality 2mp camera can sometimes beat a crap 4mp camera, its all to do with the CCD quality, and the use of a filter). The filter has one side effect though, it tends to "blur" the image.
have a look at the picture below, its the same as the above, but with a filter applied.
notice how that although the car body looks a lot smoother, a lot of the texture on the brickwork is lost.
In the case of the S700, the CCD quality is actually very good for a device of its type. Remeber there is no focussing, nor mechanical shutter, so the graininess that is there is actually quite acceptable. Secondly, because the S700 does not apply the filter, it gives you the choice of doing so using a paint package of your choice. I prefer this as youc annot "remove" a filter once applied, and you can then choose the quality and strength of the filter.

Now who can post a few pics taken with the 6630 under similar conditions ? I will disect the images on my own and take my own conclusions.I know guite a lot about Jpeg format and I can pic it up if it has been "tampered" with the image.(binary pattern method)

His reply was: "For cam quality...S700i For application and 3G go for 6630....symbian OS.."
But I must say for the pictures that he posted from his 6630, they were also quite impressive juz like the S700i ones.
