The T39 and the R520 almost has the same feature set.
If you prefer a small and handy phone, go for the T39.
If you got big hands, you'd rather go for the r520. (Then you get a speakerphone and a motion sensor which the T39 doesn't have)
Personally, my avatar would speak for my preference.

Basically it prevents you from damaging your ears by shutting of speakerphone when phone is too close to your head (or any object for that matter) It also has the bonus side effect that if you have it on your bedside table set on alarm, you can snooze it just by moving your hand (closely) over it. Now how´s that for an old clunker!
