Nokia actually doesn't need to issue upgrades for firmwares, they just release a phone with the minor fix/upgrade in a new casing and with a new model number.

Exactly n in the process they acknowledge that their previous phone was crap. Wouldnt i love it if tomorrow i'm told of a k720(i.e. k700 with r2l) and day after of k740(k700 with r2ae)?? Makes me want to get a 6600(or should i say 6620 now)

For me it all boils down to what you want from your mobile, the K700 maybe around the same price as the 6600...so what ! IMHO you pay for quality, yes granted the K700 maybe similar to the price of a 6600, but not everyone wants a PDA type phone, and without trying to be too negative about the 6600, it's the size of a brick and not particulally pleasing to look at. The k700 fits nicely into ones pocket and looks again IMHO in a different class.

have designed the k700 for a different kind of user than the 6600, if they wanted to produce a symbian phone they would've but why should they when they already have the p910 ?
I'm sure

have done their market reseach in this area, lets face it, it has plenty of features for the masses and really is in the same market area as the 6230, which is a nice phone but is pipped to the post by the k700, with this being being well documented in reviews that i have read, (and thats quite a few !)
The only advantage the 6230 has over the k700 is the mem slot, but again it's not like the k700 has limited mem space with 42 meg which is sufficient for most people's needs. I'm not going to go into the inferior screen on the 6230 or the ui which again fails to compete.
Cool if you want to state the advantages of the 6600 over the k700, based on symbian versus non symbian but if you don't need a symbian phone then what advantages are there ?? None that I can think of.
I must add that for me it's not a case of Nokia versus
If nokia had brought out the k700 then I would still have bought it, why..because, in it's class, it out performs the rest of the pack !

look you guys...you are all getting me wrong here. i have said it earlier in my threads and i am still saying it now. P910 is a really cool phone which comes on par with nokia high end phones. but all the other models are not too practical.
and i also asked someone to tell me more about the P910...no one has helped me in that. whats the difference in the Symbian that P910 uses than Nokia series 60 and series 80 phones. which is better and WHY? can someone please help me here.
now for the people who hates my post coz its favouring nokia and not SE...I think i am one of the oldest SE user on this site i guess. infact my first ever phone, actually my dad's mobile phone, was a Erricson single line model. i dont know the model number but it was even before the GH series of erricson. i think it was one of the first few models Erricson came out with it. and it was some 10 odd years back. than about 4 years ago i was using a SONY J-5. so i know about the kind of phones SONY and Erricson and Nokia have been coming out with from the very early days...when mobile phones were a new thing.
anyways...please someone help me more about the P910 here. thanks you.

The P910i uses the UIQ system operating on Sybian 7 operating system. It has 64mb of memory built in and comes with a 32mb mem stick duo. It supports mem stick duo pro upto 1gb at the mo as thats all thats available. It has a 262000 colour screen. It has programs built in for editing word and excell documents and also has the opera browser.
Hope that helps a bit.
If you have been using ericssons for so long then I would have thought that you would have noticed that you spelt it wrong.

the 6600 is that good,that MOST s/w version 3.49 and 4.09 state "wrong mime type"when attempting to download 3gp files(ask most poor 6600 owners),the audio is absolutely disgraceful,mono output,half-hearted tactile joystick,intermittent crashing,and odd looking....now that's a real good general performance for a smartphone!

I totally agree. Not that good for a smart phone is it?

and let me say this, the 6600 looks like an ostrich egg
And the plastic is Damn cheap, atleast k700 looks much better with its 3 coats of paint finish!
How can you use it with one hand? The Damn thing is so big you need the whole of your palm just to hold it.

coming from a purely sales side of it (i test fones and i am part of an acceptance team for the big V, plus i am privee to info about sales number) the K700i (within vodafone) has over taken on sales based on the Nokia 6600. Most customers complain about the size of the 6600 and the fact that the screen looks much better on similiar priced phones.
whilst testing the Nokia 6600 we also found numerous problems with it. Just because Nokia allow anyone to produce software for its fones doesnt mean SE is anythin less than equal if not better. SE have a strict T&C on software/program creation for their phones whereas Nokia will allow anyone to create software/programs and then Nokia put it on their sites and sell it on.
Over the last 4-5 yrs i have been working in Voda, i have personally noticed that they are making more gimmick phones (not really pushing the envelope)... they really purely on their brand and the fact that people will buy JUST because its a Nokia.
We all know and have heard about Nokia losing market share and the other companies gaining market share which proves this point.
Ma heads hurtin from this so see u all soon.
