Personally I release almost all of my programs as freeware (typically because no-one in their right mind would buy them

). I program because I am genuinly interested in the creation of useful programs, not just because i want to rip someone off for a lot of money. Sure, my apps aren't great, or even very good, but if someone sees them, likes them and maybe even gives me a nice comment then I feel good because my work is being appreciated. Thats why you can never be a freeloader with freeware, as the very fact you are using it is often valuable to the author.
Oh yea, admittedly I program on the PC, but I think that my feelings are generalisable.

The only shareware software I have a legal right to own on my p800, I don't use. How ironic!
It happens to be Handy Day 2005. I was a beta tester, and got a free licence. Too bad the program sucks compared to Handy Day 2004.

In the end, if people don't pay for good quality software then there will be no incentive to create it...

floss - unless i'm mistaken u may not be entirely accurate, SomeOne i think thats what the creator of that quality program Sman is called has also created loads of other decent programs, and all of them r freeware...and i would pay for those programs if the developer decided to charge, since they r the main ones i use and they r soooo good. But some people just create stuff for all to use for free and become legends! So thats incentive!

I pay for some, some I get as cracks. I can't morally justify it. I guess I'm a PARTIAL thieving git.
I paid for S.Ants Floss so no worries there!
