> SE Phone to rival the Samsung D500?
Bookmark topic
Rookwise: sure i'm a die hard SE fan but i give them alot of comments. not really in the forum but privately.
yes i've used several other phones and i test almost every new one for more then 30sec. 31sec to be exact! no really. i test them. like the samsung E700 i was going to buy one, but a friend gave me his one for a week. after 2days i gave it back. its just boring and it doesn't do the stuff that i need. D500 is just plain rubbish.
i like the razer but its to expencive and it isn't really what i'm looking for. i hope there's something special for me in the new razor line. so i can complain to SE abit more so they bring there razor version out sooner.

@Bart.
I agree with your comment about the E700. The E800 is just the same but the D500 is basically what the E800 should have been. Its a lot better. Samsung do have a reputation of making dodgy, boring, rubbish phones but I think they've started to learn from their mistakes. The D500 is like a new chapter for Samsung if you get my meaning. Going back 8 months or so I would have joined in with the 'lynch mob' saying that Samsung are an absolute pile of brown sloppy stuff that you scrape from your shoe/boot due to past experience with their phones (A300

). I have stuck with

myself for over 3 years now and had never considered using another phone. I decided to buy a D500 just from the comments on this forum and was very suprised with it. The V3 RAZR has gone. The V3 just annoyed me after a short while and a collegue of mine is taking his 3 day old V3 back to exchange for a D500 as well.

@Rookwise
Not everybody has a pc dude so cant transfer mp3...many rely solely on downloads...one of my mates is being forced to buy a 6230 solely for mp3 purposes now.
When i talked bout samsung's software support i meant where will you find java games for the phone. K7 survived coz it plays s60 games but this doesnt.
As for being a upgrade from the k7 it really isnt worth it..same feature set but suffers from above restrictions. Same res display and still fixed memory. Changing the phone coz of camera...i dont think so since there are many other small positives to a se as well not to forget 3d games.
As for s7 its memory expandibility alone is enough to make it much better than the d500. Add to it the much better camera(if you exploit s7's manual settings) and the huge display+horizontal ui further strengthen the camera. Also considerin the things mentioned above s7 is quite a better buy over d500.
And a couple of questions here: 1)does it have fm? 2)are you sure bout the # thing coz it doesnt seem to work(check while on wap) 3)how fast is the ui? 4)how stable is the phone on gprs?(i use a lot of gprs on my k7 and it hasnt restarted/hanged once)

D410 was not great at all. lots of fuzz the first 2weeks. after that nothing because everybody had tested the phone.
D500 overrated way to much fuzz. its a waste of money. there are much beter phones out there SE, nokia and others.

The d500 is bein much talked bout coz its samsung's first decent phone but still a waste of money.

Just for the sake of the discussion i have to say i tried thw E800 from Samsung and been extremly dissapointed. Nice screen,decent build quality, a bit over-rated and..that's all.The p910i that i now own seemed too expensive.So i had to choose between the d500 and s700..read mobile review and u'll see the s700 takes betterpix than the d500.Not only that, but if u got used with the se menu,other will appear clumbersome.U talk about new things at samsung like functional bt and irda when se has it for years.Stick to se,u wont regret it.Get the S700 and u'll end up with the best gadget for the shitload of money u gonna pay :D

1) Fm ? Please put in unabbreviated English so I know what your on about.
2) Yes. # does a space, * switches from upper and lowercase lettering. The right key on the top set changes the word input type (T9, abc, 123 etc). Same on wap. If you don't use the T9 feature then 1 is for a space I think. Not sure as I only use the T9.
3) Ui is quick and resposive. No delay like in my S700
4) GPRS has'nt hung on me so far. I've been using the phone since 20th Dec and have had no problems with it unlike my S700 which keeps rebooting when the phone rings (not all the time), paintwork flakes off easily even though its always in a case when not in use, contacts keep disappearing, files that were not on the phone keep appearing (mainly in the file manager option), bluetooth keep cutting off.
I'm certainly not sayint that the D500 is a better phone that the S700 as they are both good choices. Imo though, having owned a K700i between July and Sept last year, the D500 is a lot better when comparing the two phones (K700i and D500).

What i asked was , some earlier samsungs like x100,x600 etc had 9mb TOTAL memory , for java 600kb of 9mb , for pics 6mb of 9etc , you cannot put 9mb full of java apps , whereas in se's say k500 , we can put all the 12mb with java apps or whatever you like. Is d500 memory shared like the old ones ?

is this true in case of d500?
