Fair enough. How about CyberVisior just mentioning this country where recording and photographic people without them knowing is legal. Would this be considered fair?

In Sweden the criminal law only hits those who record a conversation that they are not a part of themselves. Due to legal principles, that means recording your own conversation is not a crime in this country even if the other part is not aware of the fact that the phone call is being recorded.

Also, there is no law in Sweden saying that a camera must have any kind of sound when taking pictures. Due to legal principles, it's therefore legal to take pictures - even without a camera shutter sound - in open public places if there are no local restrictions saying else. Local restrictions could be (for example) a sports club with internal regulations against taking pictures (with or without a camera shutter sound).

If there is an application available to remove the shutter sound, then it's not a crime using that application in countries where the above is true (unless there is a law against using such application even though the results of the application is legal).

If you are uncomfortable using what you call a "hack" to remove the shutter sound, then don't use the application to remove the shutter sound. If it's a crime in your country not to have a shutter sound, then don't use the application to remove the shutter sound. It's also known that tampering with the firmware voids your warranty. If you are not comfortable with that, don't use the application.

It's not recommended at all that people should remove the camera shutter sound if it's against their countries legal system.

The rules are pretty much the same here in Denmark too. Here it's also legal to take pictures of people and things, if its a public place (=where everybody can go, usually without having to purchase a ticket or something, like for the trains or movies). Its when you start publishing the pictures you might get into problems, but i dont know the exact rule on that area.

But - its legal to have no camera shutter sound here, thats why I used my DSS-25 and DaVinci to remove my S700 shutter sound (only when muted, though). Might take a look at the SE Tool sometime, but im affraid of the warranty void

In this post you will find an archive that contains a package that makes your phone power on and off faster.

This is perfect for those who use a dual-sim solution that requires turning the phone on and off to switch sim card.

The trick is that the script removes all pictures and sound files that are used when turning the phone on and off. Without these files in the phone, turning the phone on and off is very fast.

Instructions: Place all the files (not the folder itself) in the same folder as the SE Tool application is located. That way there is no need to modify the script since the paths to the files are correct. Start SE Tool and make sure you have one credit. Click the "Info" button to be sure the server is online. Click the clear names button. Click the "..." button for "Misc files" and select the file named Fast off mode.txt. Finally you press the "Write files" button and follow the instructions in the application.

Before attempting to use the package you should make sure that the battery is fully charged. It's also recommended that you read the SE Tool manual to get familiar with the basics of the application.

The package is provided "as is" and no warranty for it is given. Use it at your own risk. You should also be aware that modifying your firmware voids your warranty. If there are any regulations in your specific country against modifying your firmware, then you are recommended not to modify your firmware. These files work for me. I make no guarantees. All risks - including legal ones - rests in your hands if you use them. The script is based on information from the SE Tool homepage.

Hey you cant put all the blame on the US. Just because parts of the US made laws to prevent voueurism doesnt mean that everybody must follow us. I am pretty sure that many people in many different countries didnt want to be photographed in the partial nude. I mean Japan has a lot of perverts there. Not saying that they have more then the US or anywere else.

Hello,

I can understand the need for security and therefore some people feel that there should be a sound on the camera.

However, I do not like the sound. It is annoying and disruptive. In many picture taking situations it becomes something that you just have to try to ignore. For the same reason years ago people put their key pads on silent and the vibrating function was enabled for mobile phones there should also be the option to silence the sound of the camera.

Not everyone who doesn't like the camera sound is a creep or wants to take illicit pictures.

maybe they should offer different sounds for the camera...

Thanks for the helpful links here. I actually want to delete the camera sound, but only cos I like taking photos of the landscape and the sky. (I know, I should use a better camera for that, but I don't always carry one with me, while my phone is with me almost all the time. ) The thing is, I've actually encountered some very odd looks from people when they see me "snapping away at nothing" and I know that if I could do without the sound, it'll make me less self-conscious. LoL Just my thoughts ya?

I agree completely You do often feel self-conscious when taking photos. The K750 isn't too bad, but the K700 sound's like a slap in the face!

EVERYONE looks when you take a photo, real good for taking spontaneous photography
