Could this be the reason why a SE P9XX is beaten by XDA?

I'd like same hardware as P900 but running linux so it doesn't become abandonware like my p800. I don't trust SE now....

i must confess having used s60 for nearly a year now that i really do like it as an interface, i aint tied in what i can use my phone for be it games movies business style apps.
i would like to see se come out with a s60 interface dont expect it to happen but it would be nice.
the range of applications is great and se could add there own touches in the same way nokia do.
its a shame its the one thing thats putting me off getting the k750 when it comes out is the amount of apps ive got and use every day on s60

@cyberkid, you said "Could this be the reason why a SE P9XX is beaten by XDA?"

XDA's are crap. They lock up, software corrupts, phone/pda integration not healthy. I would rather a P910a even as low tech as it is compared to the XDAII specs.

So yes XDAII is better on paper, but in practical useage it has problems, so balances out with the old tech P.

@mib1800, you are correct, but I think SE are working very hard on solving some of the issues you guys have brought up in this thread, in order to bring news out soon as to the shape of their new smart phone.

Wait for it. I will be surprised if the next smart phone release isn't a complete departure and advancement from the P series smart phones. If it is not until the next release after that, then yes, they will have a lot of work to do to catch up. If they get it out in the next release though they could well storm the market (next 6-12 months)

What OS will it have? Maybe SE are working on the OS right now. Maybe they will surprise us all. I personally don't think they are quietly waiting for something to come along and save them.

Mark this post, because if SE don't get their smart phone sorted out in 12months, I will be a first time disappointed SE fan who will have to eat his words

Symbian offers the best integration of pda functionality and fone functions in a device car none! That is why the Pseries is the best selling device of its type. Palm os is nice but id trust series60 future much more. Palm going 2 Linux will kill all apps & sync. But a smartfone is supposed 2b 1handed device. A cheaper version without say 3g just edge, and no wifi wouldnt compete with 910 replacement.

4 P910a replacement give me a swivel design like the Sony UX50 device hidden keypad 4 those + big fingers hide keypad when just used like a fone. sell a cheaper smartfone as a multimedia device, or 2 those wanting 2b conntd while away?

There was some guy who managed to get montavista Linux running in his P900. I dont exactly remember the full details, but I'm sure there is a thread in here somewhere. I'd used a Moto A768i for a full month. And I have to say it was one helluva pain in the @$$. The software support sucked. Tho the inbuilt applications were good. The plus side is that even tho it didnt have the 400Mhz chip as like pocke pc's, it was FAST and its 206mhz was faster and more stable then even my ipaq h5550.
