whats linux like, what does it look like? could someone show me? alot of people talk about it, but whats it like?
What advantages are there to other OS's, and does it have a GUI, or is it like MS-DOS?

What have you been doing? Linux does'nt seem to like you much.
(No, really. Please post why you can't seem to get it done.)
@Chazzer3
Linux has windows-like interfaces available.
If you're a PC gamer, your choices are very limited.
For most general computing tasks, you should be able to do whatever it is you do in Windows.

well... i downloaded ubuntu... i opened nero, burned it as an image, selected the ISO, and it burned, then i booted my computer from disk, and it starts and everythigns fine, then half way through it, i get an errorsaying that the program probobly wont work right becuase of some fatal error.
when i did mandrake, i downloaded the 3 iso files, burned them the correct way to 3 different CDs... then i put the first one in, and boot from disk, and everything goes fine, then itll stop while saying installign files, so i hut alt-F3 (it tells me to at the bottom, its an option) to view the log, and it says something about a splash error.
if you want me to, i will get the exact error, and write it down again.
i dont know what im doin for linux not to like me

haha. it must be me doing something wrong, but i cant fugure out what! i know im burning the iso the correct way and all...

Does your checksums of the ISOs check out?
How about trying to burn them at slower speeds?

why is it that you are installing Linux on that computer? If it was a fault with Windows maybe you should start thinking that there is some sort of minor fault with some of the hardware on there. It just seems strange to me that two different Linux distros both complain about installing.
Final question, can you run Linux off one of the Live CD's mentioned earlier?

You haven't got a dodgy CD drive have you? I installed mandrake on an old machine once but had to swap out the drive because it just wouldn't install. I knew it wasn't the discs themselves because I'd already installed it on several other PCs
