Bookmark topic
Hello everybody,
I have been following this forum for quite a while as I am waiting to upgrade to P990 too.
Spoke yesterday with cs (select) and it may be available next week (as for the text I received last week).
Please have a look at
http://shop2.o2online.de/o2/i[....]handys/sonyericsson/index.html
Scroll down and see you will see the P990 on their shop page.
I propose to ask O2 for our PAK n and wait if they will change their mind &/or give us an excellent deal!

By the way yesterday I also spoke to cs about any "alternative" to the P990, that was W950 (better for music..) and I was told that it will be available next year (there was a mistake un the coming soon section) and today just had a quick look
https://shop.o2.co.uk/phone/Sony_Ericsson/W950i
and
It is out!
O2 either don't know what they are doing or more likely they are delaying the P990 on porpose to sell XDA....!

Hi Miss uk,
I'm afraid not besides no camera and wifi it also does not have the Office or PDF viewers but for music it is without out a doubt the best SE so far. Especially with 4gb of on board storage and according to Jah has by far the best sound and Radio.

Hi Dogmann,
Thanks for the info, I will hold to the P990.
Still not sure why O2 Germany are selling the phone and O2 UK have troubles with SW or component issue...
Did you receive any further text?
Thanks

@dream-P990 - that's a great deal.
I have succeeded in getting 1000 mins, 200 sms, ITS, Select CS, 3 month roll over all on a 12 month contract for just £28 per month and the P990i for £49.99. I will try to get the phone for free, having waited so long and an upgrade after 9 months!!!
The stores are all expecting the phone to be delivered next week, so be prepared. CS are saying pre orders will all go out from the week commencing 27 Nov, we are likely to get text on 30 Nov. The full release will be on 4 December.
SE have a stock issue, the component of concern is the package, and getting it ready with O2 software etc. Approval was last week, stock with flashed firmware will be at the O2 warehouse any day and the stores within a week form then.

Thanks, I have been on the case since July this year!
I have trying also to get the P990 for free but it seems impossible, will keep trying...
If it was stock problem does this means that we will get a later-production P990? As you know when a new phone, or car.. etc, has just come out it will not be asgood as say middle-production one, is this the case?
Looking at O2 Germany the have released the P990 which make think that there are delaying for a specific reason...
I have not received any further text so I am assuming that I will get one on the WC 13 of Nov, is this the case?

@Dream_P990
My advice is to ring retentions and see where your number is on the HRM system. Your number will have a date next to it, so ask them to check that and you will have a better indication of when the handset will be with you. Let us know what they tell you.
The handset should be a more recently produced one. I would be happy of the delay was to put a more stable firmware with less issues than the one out currently or more memory, sadly I feel it is purely down to scarcity of stock.
