@umerhayat:
Have they officially announced their services in DASKA? if they havent, then probably the signals u got were test signals, their transmission will be live once they officially launch their service in ur city

@SE7
hi man
no they have not officially announced service in Daska
so i think you are right they were test signals
i do not know that when they will launch it offically
but hope they launch it soon offically in daska so that we also can have some quality call time
i do not know whats the logic in putting a booster and then not activate it immidiately
regards

@umerhayat:
The reason they put booster and not activating is that first of all they try to cover the whole city and then they test for any trouble-shooting, once all clear signal has been delivered, they live their service. This is what i understand.

Hi all,
I don't know if I should paste this topic over here or not but anyways I am taking the liberty of doing so.
Yesterday I purchased the pre-paid package of World Call Wireless Local Loop here in Lahore. My prime intention was to use it for internet access as I am unable to get the noise out of my landline number and therefore you can imagine my dialup internet is unusably slow.
The whole evening it remained working well and I could get a download speed of 6 to 9 kilobytes per second. However late night was horrible when it almost refused to download anything. I was just wondering that in Pakistan we Pakistanis do not have any rights as "Consumers" and almost all service providers try to bluff us. The World call company when it was selling me the connection convinced me that it will be an extremely fast internet access and would be to the tune of at least 100 kbs which is approximately 12 Kilo Bytes per second but what I actually got was almost zero connection during the night. Today will be my second night with this thing and let us see what happens. I will keep you posted.
Now look what Mobilink has done. Since 25th evening no GPRS in my area (Upper Mall Lahore). I take my handset to other places in Lahore and GPRS works but as soon as I am home at the Upper Mall no GPRS connection is possible. Wrote to Customer Care Mobilink and the reply I got is that they are aware of connectivity issueses in some parts of Lahore and promised to do something about it. However 3 days have passed and still nothing done. I will continue to pay Rs 500 for the GPRS connectivity but the fact that I do not get connected because of Mobilink's problem is not their concern. So much about consumer rights in Pakistan. Just wondering that Mobilink after 3 months of the very limited GPRS launch can still not control it. For such a company would it ever be possible to enable GPRS connectivity for their Jazz Customers which in fact is the bulk of their customers.
Any idea when GO-CDMA is coming to Lahore. I am interested in taking another hit.
Regards

People were wondering which is better.
I'd go for Telenor
1) They're huge
2) They'll be the only (yes, only) operator to introduce EDGE (and possibly, video-calling, as this uses EDGE)
3) People complained about the hefty GPRS charges. It's wrong. The 64 K is needed to establish a connection.
5) Warid has money, "but no brains".
6) Easyload - advantage for Telenor
7) Balance transfer - will be introduced

Friends and Family is proposed to start in September
