@Shaheer_k

You mention that Telenor will introduce EDGE. What is your source of this news, it would be wonderful though and what is the likely timeframe.

Furthermore I totally agree with you that Telenor is the best but what are their expansion plans. I believe a mobile operator's greatest strength is the coverage which presently makes Mobilink a formidable target for competitors like Telenor

Regards

hello mates,

Thanks for your replies. Its good to know that everyone here casted their vote favouring TELENOR and preferred it over WARID.

These days, intense media war is being fought among all GSM operators as far as IDD rates are concerned. The cheapest of all is now PAKTEL with calls to zone-1 at Rs 4.3125, MOBILINK at Rs 10.0625 and TELENOR at Rs 12.0175. These rates are for pre-paid. I dont know the exact rates for WARID but i know for a fact that its cheaper than TELENOR's.

As per my understanding, TELENOR and WARID both have got 3G licences, which is one step up than EDGE. And PTA, has been working on converting all the GSM operators in Pakistan to 3G, so i dont think that TELENOR will have any advantage unless it becomes the first operator to start 3G services in Pakistan. As per my knowledge, WARID is giving tough competition to TELENOR, its not one way traffic!

So game is ON!!! Lets see what TELENOR has to offer.

Mobilink provides confusing info about its tariffs and packages:

It seems that stiff competition has still not waken up Mobilink from its inefficient customer services although it has been penalized a few times by PTA but invain.
If anyone has to find out its calling rates and tariffs,it gives out different rates on its website,call center and printed guides as if to deliberately confuse an average subscribe as to what actually the reality is.
For instance,when one calls 111,the info provided is strange.It says 'an extra surcharge of Rs.3 will be charged on every international SMS'.What is this extra charge and why didn't we know about it?

Mobilink Jazz's calls to same network are still the highest at Rs.4.20 per minute whereas other networks charge an average of Rs.2 per min(same network).
Then the call center provides confusing info about validity of the scratch cards.It says cards with denomination of Rs.600 and above are valid for 6 months while a retailers say all cards are valid 6 months but the Mobilink's main office staff told me that easy-loads are valid one month only.
All this is very confusing and it seems in this age of competition Mobilink is still bent upon earning revenues by confusing its subscribers by giving out different info and charging another tariff in reality.

It is no surprising PTA has given a deadline to Mobilink to get its act together and perk up its services or else face a stiff penalty of $300 million coming soon.

Hi all.Telenor launched its services in 10 more cities and now its coverage is in 32 cities.Mobilink also now advertising about the gprs on jazz but only in 5 cities.Browsing 18 tax and MMS 6rp tax,no doubt most expensive than all like ever.What about the old offer of 500rp tax for unlimited gprs use on indigo packages.Is it still there or is it ended This message was posted from a Nokia

I am an Indigo user and Mobilink has made clear that for Indigo users the original packiage of a fixed charge of Rs 500 per month will continue. This will include unlimited data and MMS
