They'll probably announce it at the end of this year to generate hype, then launch it Q1 2012.
From Q1, the focus will start shifting to Quad core I guess. Damn, its hard to keep up

It is, but many people don't care about that. They just want MORE and MORE and MORE and MORE and... despite the fact that they will never use the full potential of the dual/quad/... core processor. And they just look ridiculously greedy. Come on, are these 2 seconds that you are going to gain when you double the power so much important? Are you going to take faster shots? Or listening to faster music? Or listening to your music at fast-forward speed? Or win faster at the games? Or, actually, what are you going to gain? A few seconds when browsing at the menus? You you're going to pay so much on that? Just get a life!

Its all about marketing. They project it as 'more is always better'. So people run after quad cores, 16mp cameras, 3d and what not.
But all this advancement will eventually contribute to making our lives easier. They day isn't far when you smartphone will be able to turn on the lights in ur house, perform as a universal remote controller, probably drive your car, who knows?

Having a dual core phone is good for marketing period. Shows they can keep up with the times. Just like having only one android phone did not really inspire confidence in sonyericsson, but now that they have a few hasn't that kinda changed?

The technology will always progress.

In such a way that we might think Quad Core is something special now, but in a few years time it will probably be ancient tech.

Not to mention that 6 years ago I played successfully WoW on a 1GHz single-core netbook with 256 ram and 80 GB HDD. The current Galaxy S II has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1BG ram, but I highly doubt it's capable of playing such a game with simillar requirements. Instead, you have 1mb Angry Birds, which lags on slower phones. So, what's wrong with Android and why is it such a resource-waster?

I don't see anything innovative in that. Such a kind of gadgets cost no more than 100euro in eBay or Amazon ( except the last one, but I don't appreciate such kind of remotes, making your life looking like a computer game - you start forgetting that in the real life excists only one Game Over, unlike the computer game. And that makes you less responsible for your actions ).
