> O2 release date for P990 now 16th Oct (

I have spoken to a friend who has a couple of contacts in tech side of O2. Their story is as contradictory as I have heard. The phone has passed all tests but is still in the testing phase so once that is complete it will be released, expect to be able to get it very very soon indeed. What the hell?
O2 store in Maidenhead is very sure the phone will be with them this week. The salesman pulled up the screen and it showed released from Monday 13 November 2006, with shipments taking place on Wednesday and drop shipments on Friday. He expects it will come in on the Friday shipment and his manager does too.
I spoke to the Uxbridge store and the manager claims to be involved in which branch gets what stock. They too are expecting the P990i any day this week, though he claimed it was coming last week too. Claimed to have paperwork to confirm it for last week. If he assists in the decision process of who gets what, surely he should know when he will get it.
Cynicism is setting...

Asked for my PAC code yesterday and realized that I've got till the 27th to switch to a lower rate package so that the 3 months left on my contract is going to cost the least possible....
... Anyone else feel a bit strung by O2..?

I will try to find an O2 email to complain directly to senior managment as this lying is simply not acceptable and the delay should have notified well in advance so I could have made other arrangments.

I'm eliglible for an upgrade on Saturday (9months into my contract), so I've not been able to do much before that. I originally thought I'd use my girlfriends contract, but she's got a new phone now, so that's off the plans.
I also had a look on eBay and the phones go for around £300 (give or take £40ish), and that's a bit too much for me right now. A SIM free one from, say eXpansys is £440 - way too much...
... Ideally I'd go for a Web n' Walk phone... but... they don't do it... BOOOHOO!!

it has changed from the 04/12/2006 to the 23/11/2006 not sure what has gone on there.
p.s. I work for o2 so get updates daily

What is/was/will going on with the O2 P990?

I am not sure whether you will be able to answer but please tell us what you know and possibly forward our frustration to your very senior collegues at O2.

My contact works in corporate customer service and has no reason too say anything to me other than the truth as he is a friend rather than customer service trying to spin me a line.

Your not going to belive this, just spoken to o2 select and the guy said it was on the system for week commencing 4thDec, I told him that there seemed to be lots of different dates about so he went and checked. He then said that it was in some stores and if I found a store that had it in stock I could upgrade to it there and then??!?!?!? WTF?
Update: Just spoke to my local branch who said o2 select where wrong and no store will have it untill 3rd Dec, what a bunch of muppets....

Hi
i have been looking around on our systems that we have here in customer care.
I got the information from the retention departments stock update list that gets sent on a daily basis.
Unfortunatly i havent been able to find any information as to why the date keeps changing.
When it stated the 4/12/2006 it showed it was due to a component issue.
i work in pay as you go customer service so dont have the same systems as contract.
below is the exact statment shown on the stock update not much use though.
