Why does anyone have to do a reset all.... What is that going to achieve besides loosing all the data not part of the firmware since those dont get updated anyway???
A settings reset will do pretty much the same without the loss of data....
thats staright from the horses mouth... Unless of course you have evidence that proves otherwise...

@Tigeryang
Unbranded and unlocked????
Either one of those would prevent the update to R1N...
Take it to Se service center if you cant wait for a reply from any of the guys or gals here.... They will update it for you in either case
After all you must excuse us, we do have other things to get on with....

Hello everybody!
After raft trials and errors almost at the midnight I get the update successful

. Now I want to share my experience - maybe it will be useful for someone.
At the beginning I had same problem, communication error at 47-50%. All midday I've tried to get a success but …
There is my description what was done (of course not all of them could be necessary, but anyway I was made next changes to reach my results):
- Java was upgraded from 1.4.2 to 1.5 vers.;
- "Sony Ericsson Update Service" was uninstalled from control panel by "Add or Remove Programs" and installed again;
- All files after unsuccessful updates were removed from “C:Program FilesSony EricssonUpdate Servicesoftware-data” folder and downloaded again (that could be coincidence because the files, I have checked, were identical – anyway);
- I have made “Master reset””Reset all” my handset;
- Memory stick was removed out (SIM card was inside);
- I have got a point that updates are not starting by pressing “c” if USB connected not to right USB slot – it should be connected to this one whom handset was connected when USB flash drivers from SE site were updated (installed) first time; seems like USB flash driver “remember” this USB slot and no others can “see”;
- updates were run till 47%, suspended a little and started ahead till ~54%; after that 100% was reached very quickly but the message was “updates are complete – follow the instructions”;
The handset was disconnected and turned on. All were done successful.
The parameters are described below:
R1N035
prgCXC 125952_EU_1_CL
R1N035
LCD SW versions
Main display
Current: 0
Camera SW version
Camera
Current: 4.5
ITP SW version
CXC 125 932 R1B
Customization
CDA 102337/12 R4A
cxc 125953 R1N035
EUROPE_4
Content version
PA19
Good luck!

thanks...
anyone wanting to update the SEUS software without unistalling it just go to C:/ and delete or move the file hf.path should be 1KB in size....
Iniciate the Update service and you'll get the software download again....
b4 installing the s/w again delete the logs file on the update forlder for the SE software....

yes, i've experienced that myself. with setting reset, you wont have your phone fully utilized the new firmware. and also may experience problems. i know why i had static while playing mp3 last time, it was because i didnt do a FULL master reset after flashing. now that after flashing to new firmware, i do a FULL master reset and i dont see any problem.

After updating to R1N the joystick is giving problems when used for downward direction, most of the times it gives the response as if pressed.
For those of you who are experiencing problems updating with SEUS try deleting one files from PROGRAM FILES > SONY ERICSSON > UPDATE SERVICE > SOFTWARE-DATA, by doing so the service will download the firmware files again. This time one file which was previously of 652 KB size is changed & now it's of 702 KB & it's name is also slightly changed. I've successfully updated using Hong Kong version.

i also noticed that after updating to R1N035. downward key seems to be unresponsive. actually the key is doing southeast direction instead of south. if you wanna verify, you can use the >*<<*<* and test the keyboard. R1N had 8 directions. i'm not sure about R1L. can someone verify? thx!
