Next-gen chips to make phones more powerful than PS3

Qualcomm is claiming that its next generation of Snapdragon chips will bring greater power to phones than today's gaming consoles.

S3 is the current top-of-the-range processor from the chip developer, with mysterious S4 'Krait' devices set to be launched at the end of the year. Qualcomm has said that the S4 devices will include 28nm quad core processors.

The point of inflexion will come, according to Qualcomm, when it releases that Krait Snapdragon S4 chip, with upgraded Adreno 225 GPU - the power of this will equate to being able to display more fluid and faster graphics on your phone than even a PS3.

Power to you

It unlikely this means that Sony and Microsoft will just pack up and go home, but consider being able to plug your phone into a TV and use it like a console - either with the phone in your hand or via a separate controller. That's a pretty mad scenario considering where phone technology was even five years ago.

The improvements to these integrated chip systems means that we'll be seeing quad core phones with radically enhanced GPUs in the next year or so - whether this will be enough to convince studios to release the games capable of taking advantage of this power remains to be seen.

What do you think? Would you swap a PS3 for a phone for the added convenience or would you just feel like too much of an early adopter when you have to tell your friends?

No, it's 2.3.4, which is supposed to be released in late September or in October. I'm sure in that. Any other photos? Because they look great with that "shiny" interface.

About the first photo - I suppose that grey backgroud is just a part of some new theme. You know, the newest Xperias have changeable themes.

EDIT: I wanna show you something ridiculous - two pages ago I ironically wrote a few "unknown" phones ( QX20i, WR18i, YU19i and so on ) in reply to back2you's post, where he was convincing us that another photos, taken by LT18i, have been deleted from Picassa and was showing us an empty page with no search results found - https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/view?q=LT18i&psc=G&filter=1 . Well, that was the most stupid rumour I've seen in my life and I decided to demonstrate that to him, writing a few random letters and numbers and giving them as a "new unreleased" phones. And that's, because when I search their names in Picassa, I get no results found, just like when I search "LT18i", and if I follow back2you's logic, I can freely interpret that answer as that such photos, taken by these "phones", had really existed and have later been deleted. It's ridiculous, I know. And guess what - the people at sebbs.it168.com have taken my words seriously and have created a dedicated thread about these "new" phones, and I can tell you that this thread is already pretty active - 7 pages in one day - http://sebbs.it168.com/thread-3384027-1-1.html , which is impressive for something fake! This is how the rumours appear... Now I'm expecting to see my phones in engadget, GSMarena and all the other SE fan blogs.

So, dear people at sebbs.it168.com, I'm really sorry to tell you that all these phones are fake, and they're fake because I invented them and the reason for that was something that we call "sarcasm". I'm really sorry for your groundless excitement, but that is the true. Anyway, thank you for the attention you spend on my words, that makes me feel LIKE A BOSS!
