Well, so it seems that all we get this year is a single core CPU device clocked at 1.4 ghz, launching with gingerbread. With the news that Google will, in all probability, roll out dual core powered ice cream sandwich devices in Oct, followed by others, I somehow fail to see what SE is going for here. This device may sell, IF priced right, but that's not the point. Where is the innovation? SE is just playing 'follow the leader' now.
Hopefully. we'll see a strong H1 2012 lineup from SE, otherwise, things will start looking bleak.
Read an interview of Bert recently in which he said that its important to note the 'Sonyness' of SE of late, which will also stand for the future. And he said LTE phones are coming in 2012. e what SE is going for here. This device may sell, IF priced right, but that's not the point. Where is the innovation? btw...Sony Ericsson (NTT DoCoMo to be precise) will launch a device codenamed Nozomi in Japan this september. It apparently sports a 4.3 inch touchscreen and has a screen resolution of 1280x720 pixels and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655T clocking 1.4GHz. It will launch with android 2.3.4. Probably Ayame will share the same specs.
A dual core from SE's stable is not expected before next year :-|

Looking at the line of SE smartphones, it is clear that they have dropped the 3 button silver curve at the bottom of the handset to two touch buttons and a physical home one. Do you think this will be the new style of their phones?

Yeap I've noticed that, and I hate it... I just hate soft keys

The Japanese phone sounds exciting.
I think the three / four button X10 type button layout is being phased out as it doesn't seem to be appearing on the new phones. The current layout, that we see on the new minis and X-Ray appeared first on the Sony X Series, not sure which one I prefer, although I prefer the 3 button to the 4 button layout.
