OK, here is my rant!

I have gone from the K800 to the W950 and have had SE's for over 15 years now....

wow! that's pretty amazing considering Sony and Ericsson merged only 5 years ago...hell, the first Motorola Startac didn't even come out until 1996...you must have a Delorean with a flux capicitor installed

Ok, ok....no need to be picky .... I was going to say Ericsson too..... Had pretty much every Ericsson/SE phone since the GH 388

This must be a branding issue as my unbranded W950 has a standby screen with a clock and it shows missed calls, calendar events, and new messages (including texts and e-mails)???

How did you switch this feature on? My handset is unbranded also (bought off eBay that way) but I can find any way!

Whats your software version? Mine is R9C001

Cheers

there is no standby clock in the way that it used to be

when the keypad is locked and you press a key you get a display explaining how to unlock the keypad and that also shows the time. if any messages or other events have occurred you can also at this time see their popup box

thats all there is in the latest SE UIQ3 phones

I didn't do anything to my phone. It was all turned on by default.

However, the unread message counts stuff is part of the "Today" feature that's on the W950's standby screen. Thus, make sure that you have your Today feature enabled by selecting "More", "Preferences", and then "Today". I have mine set to "Display expanded" so that I can always see my unread message counts. Also, under the same "More -> Preferences" menu, make sure that the "Inbox", "Calendar", and any of your e-mail mail boxes that you want to see are set to be displayed.

As for the clock... It's displayed by default in the lower left-hand corner of my W950's standby screen (when I tap on it the clock/alarm app opens up). I don't see any way of turning that one on or off (unless maybe you're using a different theme that is).

I hope this helps some.
