Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the latest firmware is for the 610? I have a 1RA or something like that..... the last I heard there was a 'B' version floating around.... but the interesting point is whether these can be flashed ..... fingers crossed they can else i'm gonna get myself a 608 which I know works very well with the k750.

Directly from the horse's mouth:

Quote:With regards to your enquiry, this is correct behaviour, it is only possible to have one product paired to the HBH-610 at the time. If you would like to use another product (phone, pc, pda etc) with your headset you always have to pair.
When you return to the previous product you have to pair again.

WTF? SE, you've have got to be joking, yes?

Mine is R1B but it has all the problems mentioned by others in all of the HBH-610's problem threads.

I've just sold my (awful) HBH-610, and bought a Plantronics 640, and the difference is unbelievable. I thought my problems with the SE HBH-610 were to do with the fact that my w800i's R1L002 firmware is buggy with Bluetooth. After using the Plantronics 640, I've changed my mind, it's been absolutely bullet proof since I got it on Friday, works brilliantly with my w800i, even when also paired with my work phone. I can't recommend it enough, so much so I bought 5 and am selling them on eBay!

what about range and battery

post your own short review

i mean 610 was to solve all my problems since im lot in a noisy enviroment and my only complaints with bt800 is the incoming volume at least with k750, seemed louder with k700, 2 sec delay when answer and size. well 610 solved those in my case but introduced a host of new complaints. pairing with multiple devices, no redial, hit and miss voice dial, range and most of all buggy dsp ( echo cancelation fine but noise cancelation awful)

so see my dilemma, based on everything i would choose plantronics in a sec but lack of dsp module makes it useless to me. also had very high hopes for 610a but as happy reported it might even be worse than 610.

so im back to jabra bt800 till another one comes out, as it stands totally dissapointed at se bt division for making such obsolete headsets when in their words having to re-pair with additional device is a normal behaviour, long after others have introduced redial function and pairing with up to 8 devices a norm

Plantronics seem to do a very good job without a fancy DSP arrangement with their noise cancelling mics - good quality components more than make of for the lack of any DSP. Personally I'm of the opinion that a DSP in most these headsets is not really anything more than a gimmick.
I had a BT800 too and it reduced in car noise no better than any other headset and certainly worse than my old HBH-300 which has no noise cancelling features other than a long boom.

wow then we must have different shipments of bt800

mine works perfectly in a noisy enviroment for other party. in a truck, around noisy machinery as long as noise remains constant and as it changes like gear shifting it takes split second before its canceled.

agree with you that quality of the components makes a lot of difference.
maybe will try plantronics just to try it out but please post your impression regarding batery life meaning without using AAA battery to refill also regarding range since those issues have been arisen with this headset

While I only had the BT800 for a couple of weeks. Its noise cancelling didn't appear to be very effective at all, and the build quality was poor. Not what you'd expect in a headset of its price.
Not only that, but its heavy and pretty uncomfortable too.
I'm certainly not alone in not being impressed with the BT800.

Battery life is good with the Plantronics - never used the AAA battery thing, or needed to, but then I do always charge it every night anyway. In use (on) most of the day - probably couple of hours of calls, and never had below two thirds (two red flashes of LED on switch on) battery left.

Mini Plantronics 640 review:

Packaging: 9/10
Build Quality: 8/10
Design: 9/10
Sound Quality - headset: 9/10
Sound Quality - caller: 9/10
Battery: N/A*
Range: 7/10

In summary, this is a good headset, well designed and with a "premium" feel to it.

Positive:
- Very stable Bluetooth connections, with two devices and with one.
- Very light and comfortable for me (I use the ear hook).
- Very Good Sound quality at both ends.
- Ear gels should ensure most folks get a good fit.

Negative:
- It would be nice if the headset fitted back in the metal case when the ear gel and hook are fitted!
- Charger connection takes a delicate touch, don't just ram the headset in!

* I can't comment on battery as I've not had it very long, but 5 hours talk and 70 hours standby should get most folks through a day...
