Fair enough. Apparently you have observed and arrived at some understanding. You imply that the Da Vinci Code is a story with facts. But the accounts of the life of Jesus as stated in the Bible have been confirmed as historical facts for centuries now. To discredit what has been on ground, any new work must introduce verifiable evidence to backup its claims.
What new evidence has this story brought forward to discredit the Bible's accounts? I certainly do not know much by the standards of men, but I am open enough to discuss this new revelation, should there be any.
If there are no new verifiable evidences, then I will be content to hold on to the Bible's accounts, and personally dismiss the Da Vinci Code as a story written by a very imaginative mind. Which, in my opinion, is quite fair enough too. Quite.

Im a muslim, living in a muslim country.
Watched the movie, basically it has nothing to do with muslim or our Prophet Mohammad s.a.w so its ok for the muslim community. Even as we speak, our Prophet Mohammad s.a.w blood line still exist today.... BUT it doesnt really hv any affect on our religion, as God apointed ONLY Prophet Mohammad s.a.w as our messenger of God not his son or grand daughter etc etc.... however the respect is given to these blood line of Prophet Mohammad s.a.w.
So for the Christian community, maybe u guys can look at it that way??

In effect you are asking Christians to adopt Islam's point of view to a Christian issue. You well know that won't work, so there's no point even going there.
Here's the point to this debate: The Da Vinci Code is not based on any verifiable authority. One man woke up one day with a bestselling idea and put it into a book.
I've read and watched excellent sciencee-fiction movies, but that didn't make "termo-dynamic neutro-analysis centrifuge blasters" any real. Why? Its a work of fiction woven around a few scientific realities to give it some credibility. Which is what this whole Da Vinci issue seems to me to be about.
Personally, it does not threaten my faith. I don't agree with those who are calling for a ban either. More of such books are on the way. Why? Things like this sell. Just look what this one has generated. How many books and movies are "they" going to get banned?
I agree the book/movie is not entirely harmless, but as a preacher, I'll just keep preaching what the Bible says and leave Da Vinci apologists to preach theirs. Again, it all boils down to their word against ours. Nothing complicated about that.

hey AYA i gotta give it to yah... you pulled the idea right...
i would likely agree with that! i know my faith let them preach theirs... and i for one think that the whole Christiandome and especially the leaders should think of it this way...
ive said this before... if the Church leaders has enough faith with their doctrines and their teachings... then leave it up to the followers. if the foundations of their teachings are strong then theres no novel or movie can rock their faith down..
LOVE & PEACE!!!!

That is why the Quran and the Torah have been unchanged and are still in their original form unlike the Bible.
This might be of interest to some of you.

Point of correction: the Bible has not been "edited so many times".
Understand that the Bible is made up of many books written by many different individuals over a wide range of time and in even different languages. This has meant that some of those books have been copied by hand from time to time for preservation purposes.
Again, having so many versions (read: translations) of the Bible ensures that there is a greater chance of the truth going round and becoming more accessible for everyone. Each translating team may feel that an idea, message or truth could be more adequately expressed in a different way.
Hope that answers the question. I will be glad to answer any others, if I can.

As far as i know the bible is written with divine intervention and how can you edit the words of god you said its just translations but i say on it is not only translations and also one more thing dont you think there is any chance of an error in the ideas being conveyed upon so many translations......

the bible was put together 400 years after the death of jesus. a group of supposed learned people decided what went in the bible and what didnt
thats not what i would call divine intervention. many gospels were left out due to them been to gnostic thomas been one of the more famous ones left out.
the church struggle to accept the dead sea scrolls which are the earliest know account of jesus
johns gospel was nearly left out as it was seen as a bit dark. the bibles a bit like the da vinci code not a bad read but not exactly a work of literary genius
