@black - Thanks for the clarificiation mate . . . yup, and I find images taken from digicams donning the - 5,6 and 7 MPs . . . all just the . . . same

MP matters, this is why. Its true, you can print an excelent picture with a 5MP image so why more? Unless you are a pro with 100% perfect conditions you have a high probability to get some not so perfect pictures (ex. ugly background, your subject is too far, etc.) So having 1,2 or 3 more MP means you can crop without loosing any quality, more megapixels means more chance to modify your pictures without loosing print quality.

I may have exaggerated a bit but what I actually wanted to say was that when you look for a good camera don't only look at the pixel count -- that has always been the most popular wrong impression that I hear from a lot of people. Yup more megapixels is always useful for post-production purposes and for printing large formats but it's not the only thing to consider.

I think so, I belive that even 5MP will do it.

Personally I'd recommend to extend your budget a bit and get the Panasonic Lumix TZ1.

It's a decent compact 5MP digital camera with 10x optical zoom.
