Hey guys...
I've been a user of the P series since the p800.. Waited for a long time for this one, got one more than a month ago..
Camera is nice... Wi-Fi is nice... but the jog dial was killer for me. I never use it anymore (unlike the 910), and the side buttons are just a waste. The system is slow (even after the updates) compared to the other phones. I hate the "Phone was started to enhance performance" that I get about once a day. And also hate the loooong startup time. If it weren't for the keyboard, I'd sell it today.
I will sell it eventually, it was just not what I was looking for. I had 3 of my friends also buy it. Two of them are also considering selling it.
After all the wait, and the 300+ pages of the forum talking about sightings/announcements of the 990.... Its just aint worth it.
Actually considering the N95... like the GPS feature

I bought mine from Expansys. How can Sony release something with so many problems? Mine crashes as soon as I try to do anything after 10 mins of standby. The internet is slow (when it works its a great tool) and it doesn't even have a normal alarm! You have to set a reminder in the calendar and leave the phone on overnight !! Sony, get the basics right !
I'm sorry but when I had the K750i I waited for 4 months for a software update to fix the same crashing problem and when it came out it worked, but it reduced the video camera spec resolution !! Whats the point.
I'm going to try a windows mobile until SE can come out with a reliable phone. Its going back on Monday and I think I will try the i-mate SPL Smartphone (UK) thats being released. Ok so it doesn't have Wireless LAN but its the same size as the Motorola SLVR, half the price of the P990i and has 85% of the features.

I been watching the prices on ebay UK. Winning bids have dropped from £450 to an average of £340 for the P990i in under a week. Must be a lot of disgruntled users and diminished demand.

im still laughing after reading this...your the prototype of people acusing p990 of your own lack of skill - judging for your words, you never updated firmware, something BASIC. Then there's worse - saying it doesnt have a normal alarm - such a enormous mistake clearly says p990 is too much tech for you...sorry

you slaughter a guy with less than 100 posts for not knowing some basic principals, why? chances he might not want to come back. These are just phones not a way of life, he might be a business user with better things to do with their time than muck around trying to understand the basics of the P990i (I do agree reading the manual of any item is advisable before complaining mabout it!) no need to be nasty to people to make your self feel bigger and better.

please, the guy was bitching the p990 for not having a regular alarm...even having to use the manual to find about this is plain dumb
and stop the moral lectures, you´r surely not in position for that

Ok, I originally started this thread with doubts and although I am getting used the phone I STILL have my doubts and really want to go back to a Treo 650.
So my question is. I just recently started an 18 month contract with vodafone over 3 weeks ago. Can I sell my P990i or swap it for a Treo 650 and just use my vodafone sim in the Treo or do I need to tell Vodafone that I have sold it as the IMEI number will still be registered to me? I mean I paid for the phone (£100) so in theory I can do what I want with it right? Just need to know do I have to tell Vodafone I will have a different phone or do I just go ahead and do it.
Reasons for going back to Treo?
P990 still buggy, crashes, slow UI, not truely one handed. less software.
Treo 650 fast UI, truely one handed, tons of software.
I can live without the wifi, better camera and radio. I intially got the p990 because my treo was broken but want to get another one as it is excellent!
Thanks for any advance advice.
