Seems to me lyk Nokia realy dont put much effort in advertising sum of their Xpress Music phones, the ONLY phone i see being heavily advertised is the N95, 6110 Navigator and the Music Edition advert with: N70-ME ,N73-ME, and N91-8GB THESE ARE THE ONLY NOKIAS that are heavily advertised in South Africa, the 5200 and 5300 are all over billboards and magazines BUT even thou 5700 is here i havent seen ONE add for it, even the N76 is being advertised as much as N95, and N76 JUST ARRIVED

@Boab,

I have to say the N95 is even better than my N93 was it has a great interface plenty of options and the easiest way of adding Album Art i have seen on any smart phone. If you encode your Music well to take full advantage of the processing power available and use a decent set of headphone IMHO the results really are nothing short of stunning. It produces a warm rich and well detailed sound stage with plenty of Bass and depth, easily the best sound experience i have found so far destroys the so called superior Walkman devices which IMO are all branding and don't deliver as well as they should.

@dogmann agreed, wm is just a brand name, sound good on the devices, but thats all. if i find some really good quality mp3 songs, have the same feeling with e60 music player as with a wm fone

@Boba,

Music and quality is always a very personal thing as to what some one likes or doesn't, my E61 which in no way could be considered a Multimedia device for Music. Still does an excellent job as my Music player maybe the UI could be a little nicer but when i want to listen to Music that really isn't important to me how ever how it sounds is.

Obviously all the SE fans are going to claim the Walkman phones are the best, unfortunately IMO that just isn't true, when i was checking a few of them out all of them failed to impress me and some where just down right horrid. Just because Nokia don't label there Multimedia smart phones as Music players doesn't mean they aren't good i stand by what i say that the Music Player and even it's UI on the N95 is easily the best i have used.

Actually Boba as you know i just sold my N95 and was worried that i would be disappointed when going back to my E61 so was considering getting a stand alone player. I really was pleasantly surprised at just how good my Music sounds via the E61 encode @160kbps AAC and useing the AD-46 and Shure headphones so have totally left the idea of needing a stand alone player.

Well .. im 26 years old , i've been using sony walkmans for the last 11 years , i really never had a problem with any and it was the best sound ever from mp3's 192-320 Bitrate , i've got ma self an IPOD i liked the style more than the sound to b honest , i know this is kinda off the topic , but what im try'n to say that i ve tried many Nokia's and all the SE walkman's and i have to Admit i never reach'd the satisfy'n sound with any mobile fone like ma w950i [after the RG900 firmware] via Earbuds not the External speakers [kinda low imo ] anyway , so if u really intrested in mobile fone with a decent sound you have to consider the w950i seriously specialy nowdays with the decent price zo ... thanks

If I may weight in. Sound is subject. What sounds good to me might not sound good to you. Music encoding, bit rate, headphones (impedance, sensativity, etc...) all come into play. I think the stock iPod headphones are utter trash when compared to my Shure E5C's or Etymotic ER-6's (just sold them), but my wife and friend they the iPod phones sound great. Go figure. I use my Shure's when I want complete isolation. I bought a pair of Sennheiser MX-75's for knocking about and training, and in my opinion they too will best the iPod phones. Comparing iPods to phones is a useless undertaking and most studies are funded by Apple or the phone guys. Guess which way the results will skew depending on who's paying. I have a w800i. Not bad, but I think (and this is my opinion) the N95 beat it in sound quality, but just a bit. On the other hand, the M600i was a total disaster when it came to music.

So the moral of the story is, you pay your money, you take your chances. One note is, if you can afford to spend over $400 for a set of headphones as your main listening devices, I would recommend it as your music listening experience will take on a whole new meaning.

N91 is allready the supreme music phone, other N-series are allready V good too, Trouble is SE walkmans range from £50 to £400 and are readily available to all teens on PAYG, so unless Nokia start giving the N-series away on a similar basis the Walkmans will always vastly outnumber similar musicphones from ANYONE else.

@mweb6161

Nseries phones are targeted towards multimedia in general not music specifically; nokia keeps discribing Nseries as "multimedia computers".

but it has just recently started to enter the world of "music only handsets" with the xpress music family, 5300 is very affordable and successful, 5700 came in lately, and the rumored 5310xm(w880 lookalike), but the XM family still too small to compete with the large walkman portfolio.
